I've been to 2 stores and both ps2s had a frozen screens.
Is there a problem I should know about as I'm buying one next week

all three systems seem to be fine. I do not think any of them will be more or less likely to freeze.

I would not be worried about that. Computers freeze from time to time and I keep using mine ;)

Don't judge a system's likelihood of failure by locked up demo units. Demo units always freeze. They are left on for up to 24/7 which causes problems, and a lot of the freezing problems have been due to bad demo discs.

As far as I know, all three systems have about the same history of failures, all of which are very rare.

Ok thanks but that was kinda a bad omen :)

I don't think so. I haven't seen a ps2 locked up in a long time but the other day I did. I also haven't seen more than 1 xbox working before but Saturday I saw 2 going just fine. Come to think of it, the only one I haven't seen frozen was the cube.

I've had my PS2 since January 2001, and it's only locked up on me once. It happened near the end of the third period of an NHL 2002 game - I'd just completed a comeback from a two goal deficit, and then it froze up.

Only once in 16 months is pretty darn good if you ask me. My PC used to freeze once a day (Before XP, that is).
