Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance revealed (w/Kojima interview)

Basically MGS2 Substance will come out on X-Box this November with a PS2 and PC version coming at a later date. You will be able to play as Solid Snake throughout the whole game along with other characters such as the Cyborg Ninja. The game will fill a whole dual-layer DVD disk for the X-Box. It will also include hundreds of VR levels along with an extra side story starring Snake on his own.

The dual-layer DVD is the reason it will not be on GC...it would probably take 6 discs on the GC.

Although the GC has a killer compression routine.

The 'play as Snake all the way through' feature sounds a lot like the Japanese release of MGS2 for the PS2. I think they just added a feature that allows you to swap the character graphics out for another character in the game. I don't think it changes the game at all, you just don't have to look at whats-his-name the whole time. The extra story and the VR levels sound like the meat of this 'extra' release.

I'll have to wait for the reviews to come out to see how much extra gaming you get. I really don't care about the VR missions, and switching skins is just eye candy. There is going to have to be a substantial amount of new game play for me to purchase it.
