playing DVDs on XBOX

A lady friend of mine told me she is able to play DVDs on her XBOX, and she doesn't have the DVD remote kit. Is this correct?

My XBOX is in storage as I'm playing Arc the Lad on the PS2, and I don't feel like setting up the XBOX again just to check this out.

Yep you have to have the kit.
