Wulfram II - FREE online team-based tank combat

http://www.wulfram.com/

Anyone playing this? I found it off the sig of another DVD Talk Forum member... I forget who... and it's great. The graphics aren't the best, but the gameplay is solid.

Basic premise... two teams of tank and scout vehicles fighting it out online. In addition to the basic tank-to-tank combat, there are strategic aspects. One player on each team (the "linker") has an uplink that can be traded between players... he uses that uplink to communicate with "capital" ships floating high above the battleground in order to get them to drop supplies such as repair/refuel pads or defensive structures, with which teams build bases. The "linker" also controls where the ships move, and he can use that power to engage enemy ships, cutting off enemy supply lines.

Why should you play?

1. It's free! Why not play?
2. A great community of moderators and trainers that keep jerks out and get new players trained up. There are also training servers, where new people are forced to play until they show trainers that they know what they're doing.
3. As I said before, the gameplay is solid. It is deep, and there is a learning curve (like most games), but it's not that bad... I was off the training servers and into the main game within a few days. Your mileage may vary. The teamwork aspect is a lot of fun, and the communication system is good and supports teamwork.
4. No player killers. Whenever you attack a friendly structure or teammate, you take damage, not your target.

Anyways, check it out, if you haven't already, and let me know if you play. My handle is (what else?) Static_Cling. Enjoy!

That sounds cool :)

I think that idea about how to handle team killers would literally stop the practice completely in every "team-based" internet game.

A GREAT idea, I'll have to check it out.
