OK! Morrowind on PC or XBox?
Any thoughts?

simple pc
xboxs controller will blow for it :P |
If you have a high end PC, the game will look much better. Last weeks episode of Extended Play had a preview of this, both for the X-box and the PC. The footage from the PC looked much better than the X-box version. However, they did say that you would need a "very powerful" PC to play it at that setting so YMMV.

I have a PIV 1.6g with 512mb RAM and a GeForce card.
On the other hand I have my xbox connected via component cable to my 36 XBR 400. Tough choice! |
The resolution on the xbox version is 480p, no? Then if your PC can handle it, might as well go that route for the higher resolution.

I'm getting the PC version because it includes the TES construction set. I've always had an interest in making mods and this tool looks like it's pretty simple to use.

No contest: PC

PC if you can run it well.

I don't have the PC power to run it, so I know which version I'll be getting. I've really enjoyed playing Halo on the Xbox, it's nice when you don't need to sit so close, just sit on the couch, enjoy the sweet DD 5.1, and relax. 36 inch 480p will look fantastic. I don't know what someone meant when they said "much better", but I really doubt it. I doubt they were running 480p on that tv show. Get the Xbox version, if you aren't happy with it, I'm sure it will be a hot game to sell on Ebay/Half/or trade on here.

Forget visual quality; the answer is definitely PC because there will be a pantload of awesome mods, what with the groovy construction tools that come with the game. The XBox version will have no such capability.

Without the mods, it would have long been deleted off of people's hard drives. |

Originally posted by joshd2012 The graphics are actually better than Halo, which is the problem. Because of the high detail, they will have to tone down the AA and the texture detail inorder to keep frame rate at a reasonable rate. The is assuming that the X-box version will support any AA or high texture detail at all. |
My PC doesn't have a snowballs chance of running it. As much as I'd like to try the mod maker, I'm not buying a new vid card for one game. Anyhoo, as cool as it seems, I jump back and forth between games so often I probably wouldn't even use it -- ie. downloaded but never used mods for a lot of other games and never made more than a map or two for Starcraft. I guess I just have too much fun playing.

I've done the same thing, downloading Mods but never using 'em. But Morrowind mods should be especially kick-ass; if I understand correctly, they can just add new towns/forests/caves/whatever to certain areas of the pre-existing game world. Run out of quests in the main game (if that's even possible)? Stick a mod in and *Wham*! You've got a new town to visit.
Cool, eh? |

Thanks for all the input.
Since I have no interest in mod kits I am only concerned with playablity and graphics. If the XBox version is a good performer and does well in the reviews I may rent it to see if I like it. That is the way i am leaning at the moment. |
My main problem with the PC version will be having to use keyboard and mouse controls. I just can't get used to them.....I'll take a gamepad anytime....

Mod discs will probably be available for the Xbox version as well as the Xbox has the capability for it.
I just loaded the Mod disc for DOA3 a few days ago. Very impressive. Although my PC can handle this game, I've enjoyed playing Xbox games on my bigscreen TV, listening to thunderous 5.1 and relaxing in my recliner while playing. When playing games on my PC for more than 2 hours, I feel like an Arthritic old man when I get up. I can play on my Xbox for more than 6 hours before I feel fatigued. After playing games on the Xbox, I can say that playing anything on my PC SUCKS!! |
Considering my computer doesn't have a chance in hell in running it atm, the X-Box is looking mighty good, especially on a nice big widescreen with 5.1 sound.
Hopefully the X-box version doesn't dissappoint. Aldieb |
