I've been seeing copies of GTA3 popping up on half.com and ebay that claim they are uncensored. Did they really censor newer versions or what? A friend at work said they rented it and that you couldn't kill/pickup prostitutes in it and stuff.
I don't own it, but I really wanna get it and I don't know if I should shell out more money for the "uncensored" version.

No, there is no censored version. Nor has the game been banned in the US. (And whatever other ploys people try to pull to sell this game for more than MSRP)

NO!
Every version of GTA3 is the same. This was somebody's way of bilking the dimmer bulbs on eBay. Worked well because I saw suckers paying $70.00 and up for a game that was readily available at your local Toys R Us for 49.99.
What a scam!

That's a relief. I've waited too long to get a ps2 and I almost kicked myself in fear that this was true. I know there is a censored version in austrailia (because I just read about it after I posted it hehe) that was missing exactly what I thought; the prostitution stuff apparantly.
Anyway, thanks for the clarification!

There is also a German version that is censored somewhat to remove blood and the ability to hit people while they are on the ground. It may remove other stuff too that I'm not sure of. You can play it uncensorted however by just changing the language to English. Heh.

That's what I kept hearing, but I was searching the net and found a bunch of sites confirming it was released in february with 7 seconds deleted from it. Apparantly the only part removed was the ability to pick up hookers because their board of film and literature deemed it to be sexually offensive or something.
