Who wants to be a Millionaire considers the X-box to be a Toy!

What a bunch of idiots. It's said to see video games still being considered toys.

It was one of the fastest finger questions.

Put these toys in the order they were releaed in the U.S. starting with the earliest.

Xbox
Some wagon (wester flyer maybe?)
Teddy Ruxpen(sp?)
Easy bake oven.

What are video game systems then? I consider them toys. Hell, I play all the time, it's a way of life, but it's still a toy to me.

I just call them video game consoles. I'm picky about needing my words narrowly defined. Being a journalism major, and working for a newspaper, broad words are useless.

Re: Who wants to be a Millionaire considers the X-box to be a Toy!

if you want to not broaden your word uses then...

Xbox
Video Entertainment game console.

Some wagon (wester flyer maybe?)
Pulling transportation device

Teddy Ruxpen(sp?)
Electronical interactive teddy bear

Easy bake oven.
Miniture Cooking device

So none of those are "toys" but then again. They are.

I would consider a game Console to be a "toy" it's an Electronical Toy.

Well another problem with calling game consoles toys is it continues to perpetuate the idea that video games are for kids. This give the senile, old fogeys in congress even more reason to baselessly attack violent video games. Personally I don't really care as I think "mature" games really cater to the immature, but thats a whole different can of worms.

Well like McFarlane toys are not geared towards kids (tortured souls/ spawn series/ etc) they are still toys.

I guess its one of those things that if its under Toys R Us' roof, then I guess it can be labled just that.

I considered my 87 5.0 Mustang my "toy".

Josh has a good valid point. For a quiz show that everyone considers accurate, categorizing a console that plays DVDs, CDs, can act as a jukebox for MP3s, and does video games, "toy" sounds very inaccurate.

Regis Sucks.

It's obviously all a matter of definition. All the things you listed could be considered toys as well. They definitley arn't not required to survive. So, it's all a matter of definition.

On a side note: Why oh why do we even care?

Josh your arguments don't make any sense.

Where did you get the notion that video games were only for kids?? I read recently that 18-35 year olds make up the majority of the video game market.

Video game console is a subcategory of toys.

According to your logic, Teddy Ruxbin is not a toy, because it's really a teddy bear.

How else would Millionaire phrase the question?
What other word would sufficiently describe: Xbox, Teddy Ruxbin and easy-bake oven???

Maybe you're just offended that Xbox was mentioned with such ordinary toys.

I didn't get that notion. It's just a common stereotype. Joe Six Pack (and members of congress) think video games are for kids. Us gamers no that isn't the case and are aware of the statistics out there, like the ones you mentioned. The average person isn't aware of this and still believes video games are only for kids. Having a game console called a toy on a Game Show that is watched by Joe Six Packs just further promotes the stereotype of games being only for kids. That's my main gripe with it.

I'm not going to waste my time with your other frivilous points.

I don't know about everyone else but I get my consoles and games at a Toy Store...

ToysRUs to be specific. I do recognize that you can get them at Electronics stores as well...

I think it is on the bubble of toy and entertainment electronics.

Really people, can't we all just get along. don't you have better things to do with your time than bicker back and forth, like playing with your TOYS. Yes, Your system was termed correctly when it was called a toy but who cares. I still know, like the rest of you that WE, as a GAMING COMMUNITY, don't consider them as such. I'm 28 and lord knows that if a "kid" goes near either one of my systems, I go off the handle. So stop your complaining and go play a game!!!!!

I'm 22, I still buy toys. its not a matter of making "toys" sound like a bad thing.. kinda like Animation only being for KIDS... wrong. its for everyone. EVERYONE old and young can have toys.... and an Xbox, my friend, is a toy for an older (or youngr) person.

Here's a fastest finger question for you.

Put these shows that have worn out their welcome in the order that they will be cancelled.

A. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

B. Regis and (Insert Female Twit Cohost Here)

WTF!!!!

The easy bake oven is not a toy it is a instrument for teaching the necessary survival skills to women. You have to start while they are young
