Well, I rented this game and I dont' think it's all that great.
I played and beat the DC Spiderman game, which I liked somewhat...but this is kinda just the same old thing.

I don't think the graphics are all that great, and the gameplay is boring (imho).
I'm just gonna beat it from this rental period, hopefully. Definitely not buy worthy.
At the most, I'd get it for the PC for only 20 bucks or so at best buy.

Can't wait for resident evil in a few weeks though.

I have it for the PC, and the camera is driving me nuts.

Yeah, i'm getting motion sickness from it.

xmiyux,

I had the same problem.

There are 2 different control schemes (enhanced and classic). I did the tutorial with classic (hold left trigger and Y) to do the Yo Yo move.
Then, in the game, I changed to enhanced and tried the move and only shot out some web. The controls for doing it with enhanced is the black button and the left trigger.

My impressions... I was ready to throw the game out the window. I couldn't, for the life of me, get past the huge warehouse with the thugs (right before Uncle Ben's killer).

I really wished they had marker points so you wouldn't have to start from the begining every time but I guess that would shorten the game in their eyes.

I finally made it and am better for it (I learned the important web attacks). I'm currently at the level with Shocker. Very cool.

I like the game but it really is your by the numbers superhero game with a shiny new wrapper. Walk into a room, fight thugs, they magically disappear, walk into another room. I bought the Xbox version but almost wished I went for the PC. You can really tell the game is running at 640x480 (in my eyes).

This game started out really well (Bruce Campbell intro) but fell short with ackward camera movement that had plagued my gameplay. I am glad that i got a $10 gift certificate with my purchase. I should be finished with it tonight and will be posting it on ebay soon there after!

In case anyone cares i did figure out what the problem with the control was. Using the classic scheme the tutorial tells you to hold down y and tap left to do the spidey yo-yo..... well it turns out according to the manual you have to tap y and then quickly tap the left shoulder button. So i did get it to work even though Bruce Campbell lied to me ;)

Yeah the game is a fair amount harder than the one on the DC was but i'm kind of enjoying that fact... i just wish the camera had been fixed a little better (although locking onto enemies makes a huge difference in ease of battles).

Before you ebay it, you may want to try out the following easter egg. I'll give it a try after I get home but the idea is a pretty nice addition.

Couple of Questions? and Thanks!!

First of all thanks for all the codes and feedback from everyone regarding this game. I have the game for the Xbox, but my schedule has not allowed me to play it yet.

I have a couple of questions? I am not new to these forums, but I guess I am new enough that I don't know what a couple of abbreviations are. Can someone tell me what HTF and B & M stand for in reference to these forums?

Thanks!!

I have it for the PC. I like the game, but there are some serious bugs that need to be looked at. I can't do any of the training missions. I start it up and hear Bruce Campbell's voice, but the only graphics I see are the spiderman head/health bar in the corner. The game itself will play fine most of the time, but when I finish a level, if I press continue to go to the next level, nothing happens. I need to back out to the main menu and press continue. I KNOW I meet the minimum requirements, and I've reinstalled the game 4 different times to try to make sure it wasn't an install issue. Is anyone else having these same difficulties?

Make sure you have the most current display drivers for your video card. One of my friends was having difficulty with graphics, but fixed them with driver update. I'll have to ask him about the "continue" problem. I hope this was helpful.

How do you do the Stealth in the warehouse? I am at the Subway, but would like to figure out how to beat the guys without alerting them and go back and start from that level.

This post reminded me how much I hated playing games on a computer & why I am so glad I went back to consoles.

Good luck.

Yea... I was wondering about that one too... however how many people have found the lady on the rooftop (being assaulted by thugs) and found her purse for her (on another rooftop?), on the first level? It's worth 700 secret points... wanna know where?

vhgong 04-21-02 06:27 PM

Anybody here have the feeling that after finishing the game, you feel that it has somehow spoil the movie for you??

duy37 04-22-02 02:23 PM

I got this game over the weekend and spent about half an hour on it already I don't like it. I got this for playstaion 2.

the big thing i notice is that the very first level where spidey is jumping from skyscrappers, pressing R2 will make spidey auto websling or something....the thing is where's the websling going to? it seems to be clinging to the sky or something.
anyways then i played the stealth warehouse level then quit after that...i'll play more this weekend.

so first impressions...bland.

For those with the PC version, definitely use a gamepad with this console style game. The keyboard just won't cut it. I use the USB version of the Sidewinder gamepad with 10 buttons and have not had any problems.

Shuki 04-24-02 10:04 AM

I was just in a gamestop.com store yesterday where they had this game running on PS2, the Cube, and the X-box all side by side. All I wanna know (without starting a big flame war) is how on earth is the x-box version so much better looking (graphically speaking)? IMO, the xbox version took the "best graphics" cookie hands down. I am assuming then that this is a hardware issue on the consoles and not software (game). Would that be a correct assumption?

And yeah, I kind of think playing through the game will ruin the movie for me so I am not even buying it until I see the movie first ;)

My Sidewinder gamepad won't work with this game. I can jump, kick, and punch but Spiderman won't walk/run.....??????????

Now... without any fire or brimstone... I disagree. I have both the X-box and the PS2 version and as far as I can tell they are almost exactly the same. The only difference that I have seen is the targeting "reticle" on the PS2 is smaller and less defined.... other then that the graphics are exactly the same... and I also agree the game will definatly spoil the movie... especialy since there are things in the game that I know aren't in the movie (Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion) and yet it gives away a few big plot points <spoiler>Like how Uncle ben dies... and why Norman Osborn becomes Green Goblin</spoiler> So be careful... I wonder why they released it so long before the movie opened.

This really isn't much of a spoiler for anyone who's read any Spider-Man comic books. It's an extremely well known part of his history.

True, but a big blockbuster super-hero hollywood movie will get a much bigger audience than just comic book fans, meaning that the majority of the people who go see Spider-man will have never read one of the comics.
