Which XBox A/V Pack to get?
I have a 32" Flat Screen Toshiba with component inputs and S-video input as well as RCA in/out. Not HDTV capable and not Wide Screen. Someone please tell me which A/V pack to get? I know there are 3 different types and I already have the standard RCA cables, but I want better quality video/audio for both games and DVD viewing. Someone said to get the HD pack cuz it has the optical audio. Although I have a surround sound speaker setup and A/V receiver with optical input, my TV is not HDTV capable! That won't do any good, right?

Both have an optical out and you will want to use it for best audio quality. You must purchase the optical cable separately. Any will do, get the cheapest you can find. Component video, of course, provides a slightly better picture than s-video; so go that route if you want the best quality. Also, stick with the Microsoft brand packs as others have had problems reported and are overpriced (i.e. Monster). |
I just bought the HD pack for my component in TV --- So I do have an extra S-video pack ;)
But seriously -- it's great. The S-Vid and HD packs are the same price, so go for the HD pack. |
