the word on the street seems to be sometime during the E3 confeerence, which is sometime next month...

The price drop announcment will be made at E3.

PS2's are still flying off the shelf, so a price drop now would be silly. It probably won't drop until later this year, in time for the Christmas season.

PS2 Price Drop
At E3 there will be an announcement.

Apparently both Sony and Nintendo are planning drops. How much is unknown.

My money says $249, but Reuters has suggested possibly as low as $199.

Whether Nintendo drops the GCN price depends on what Sony does. If the PS2 doesn't drop, the GCN won't drop. If the PS2 drops to $249, the GCN price might drop. If the PS2 drops clear to $199, the GCN price will almost definitely drop. All this was in some articles on a possible GCN price drop earlier this week.

With the money you save on the PS2, perhaps you can invest in a new "Caps Lock" key.

Sony Computer Entertainment says it has combined two of the processor components of its PlayStation 2 on a single die, which should significantly reduce the cost of manufacturing the market-leading video game console.

any of you guys going to E3?? I wonder if it can be better than last year since last year they showing off two new systems, but this year will prolly be a bunch of new games mostly.

Latest word on the street is a June drop to $199 (in order to really stick it to MS and force a similiar drop in the Xbox).

Why in June instead of at E3? I thought that would be the best time. I'm probably completely off but oh well. Any input on why it's June instead of late May is appreciated.

That is what I mean.

Announced whenever (E3, E4, ET...) and you'll actually see a lower price tag in June.

...and I am talking about the street where people know stuff and not read it.
