Sorry, I'm no help.

I guess my question is... where are people staying and what rates did they get.

I tried tonight to book a room but everyone is sold out and must go through the E3 Housing to get one of their reserved lots.

I will be trying that tomorrow when the open, but I was just wondering what 'non-E3' housing people were using and where they were located.

Any and all info (including numbers) would be appreciated.

Best Western Mayfair Hotel I reseved it thru expedia.com.
73 dollars a night plus the usual taxes.

check out the Inn Towne Hotel. It's kinda dumpy, but it's cheap and only two or three blocks from the LA convention center. The link below says there are rooms available for around $90.

Econo Lodge LAX. The area ain't great and it looks pretty lame on the outside, but the rooms were very nice (stayed there last year), having been recently remodeled. $45/night for 2 people on choicehotels.com. It's about 20 minutes from the center, so you'd need a car, but still, that's a pretty good deal, especially if you split it with someone. There's also one on Wilshire I stayed at for 2000, which is closer to the Convention Center, which is slightly more. Staying here because it's convenient for other plans. Book early though, they don't last.
