I tried to get into the MAME thing years ago on my PC. Most of those games just don't hold their appeal to me anymore like they used to. Much like many of the retro games available now on XBLA. This Gen and last Gen console games have really spoiled me. I'm a graphics whore, so sue me.

Consider the paperwork on the way.

I built my MAME system a year back. I bought a pre-fabbed black cabinet online and used a 27" Toshiba TV as my monitor. I was able to find some really cool side art decals off Ebay as well as a marquee that I backlit. It looks fantastic... but I might play it one or twice a year at this point.

Like others have mentioned, the games just don't age well and they don't seem quite as fun as they did when I was 10.... soooooo many years ago.

Well now there is finally a solution for the whole legality issue. I signed up for Gametap as soon as I found out about it, and the games are actually emulated. You can run that in a MAME cabinet just as well.

Gametap almost got me to resurrect the old arcade challenge threads, but there was a Gametap thread already and it wasn't getting any love.
