Portable Monopoly Preorder Starts on March 13!!

The official name for the kit is the "Afterburner." There are numerous new pics on the site. They will be putting up a video of the unit in action. They are also posting a manual on the site so people can judge the difficulty of the project. They claim that with the Afterburner installed, the screen looks as good as an Ipaq 3835. The kits will be shipping late April to early May.

Actually the preorders will begin on March 15. The site says: To be exact, preorders begin two days from now on Friday, March 13 at 1:00 PM CST. That must be a mistake because today is the 13th.

According to kvrdave's scale of hardness (not mature) a 4 out of 10. Their faq page addresses it, I believe.

The site seems to be fixed now. It says Friday, March 15.

I can't wait for this. I just hope I don't destroy anything or get dust into my GBA when I do this modification.

Come Friday, I will be posting an article about my impressions of the mod. Although I have followed the project with Adam from the get go, I finally sat down with the thing tonight and played with it for awhile and compared it to my GBA. I will post some of it then if you guys like.

Rumors originating in Japan say the Big N is working on their own. However, is so, who knows when that will be. Plus, there have been many other rumors and scrapped projects in the gaming world, so only time will tell.

As far as Portable Monopoly's, in a story I wrote for our college newspaper, Nintendo refused to comment on it AT ALL. They simply said they do not support people voiding their warranties.

So, I do not believe Nintendo particularly likes the project, and I doubt Adam would sell out to them anyway.

The problem is, I bet it will be so successful, they will have a difficult time keeping up with demand.

OK, impressions are up.
The link should be posted on portablemonopoly.com, or maybe other news sites.

I hope it helps

It's just as I expected. I've followed this project for many months now, and I knew this was going to happen. I've not been able to get any response at all from the merchant site.

Just had a feeling that they would NOT be prepared for the onslaught of preorders for this thing...

Latest update says they hope to be back up tonight. This is pretty funny: "to be exact, 1 person made it all the way through the order process"

It looks like they were able to change servers. The order site is working now. I ordered two Afterburners.

Does anyone know if this will be able to work with a TV de Advance installed? I'm planning on a couple of trips this summer and this light would be perfect during the travel.

Good question, but no idea.

I assume, since the Afterburner involves only two leads being soldered, then the TV connection will be fine.

How much will the kit diminish battery life?
