I finally bought Half-Life...
 

Ok, i finally broke down today and bought half-life so i can play team fortress and maybe some counterstrike... The question now is can someone recommend a nice site to get maps, mods, etc from? And i know punkbuster is now defunct but is there something else taking its place to verify people aren't cheating? Give me advice you FPS experts - i'm a rookie ;)

As for mods and such, I've only played a couple. Day of Defeat, which is a WW2 HL mod, and FrontLine Force, which I don't remember anything about (been too long). I played these early last year, so I don't know about their status now. I'd recommend Medal of Honor if you like WW2 FPS though.

Try Planet Halflife for most of your gaming needs.

as for maps. the typical case is pretty much Dust and Dust2 which are the most in circulation. so you wont have to look for many maps ;)
