PS2 Vertical black band on 16x9 TV
Hooking up my PS2 to my HDTV ready set, when playing games, the video is offset to the right, creating a 1 inch black band on the left hand side of the screen. This is the case whether I hook up S-Video or Composit video cables. If I pop in a DVD movie however, the problem is not present. This is obviously quite a problem
Seaching deja, I found a couple other people with this problem, but no solutions. I find it hard to believe all PS2's are like this, but I guess it's possible. Is there a way to fix this? Some games allow you to adjust the video, but not many.. Thanks Edited to correct myself as it's a vertical black band |
It has to do with overscan. See if your game has a center screen option.

That's part of the problem. Most of the games I have, like GTA3, don't have it I assume there is no fix?

Unless you go into service mode and adjust overscan & convergence there's no fix.
I'm technically inclined so I have no problem opening my Toshiba 65" and tweaking it and going into the service menu but I don't recommend it for everyone becuase many a people have FUBAR'ed thier set and voided the warranty so they are SOL. You should head over to http://www.avsforum.com if you with to proceed |
