Mario 3 is still awesome...

My 2 1/2 year old loves to play in the Man Room (Home theater and video game room) and he is only allowed in there with me. We play a number of different games. I first got him hooked on Duck Hunt for the NES, and fortunately that got boring, because it was boring me to death. He thinks he is watching movies. As a result we have found certain types he likes to watch (while I play) and ones he doesn't.

He likes cartoonish graphics like on the NES, SNES, and Genesis. The N64, PSX, etc. are too much for him.

He dislikes RPS and strategy games because they move too slow. This sucks for me as those are my favorites, but after nearly 2 years of no video games, I'm just happy to have someone to play with.

Just thought I'd share.

That's Super Mario World, for the SNES. Super Mario Land was the first Mario Gameboy game. BTW Super Mario Advance 2 is coming out for the GBA on 2/11 and it is a port of Super Mario World.

As for Super Mario Bros. 3, I love this game as well, and I'm excited as there has been some speculation that the upcoming GBA port maybe something special. The reasoning for the speculation is that they started with SMB2 then skipped SMB3, jumping straight to Super Mario World. It looks like Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (maybe my favorite in the series) might even get ported before SMB3. So this has some sites speculating that maybe their working hard on doing something special for SMB3, rather than a straight port.

It's not speculation. Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 will be released for the GBA next month, and Super Mario Advance 3 (Super Mario Bros. 3) will be the next release.

It will be updated like Super Mario Bros. 2 was for Super Mario Advance.

It was sUper Mario World. Not Land. SML was the first GameBoy Mario game.

Love and Peace!

my kid has never been able to control ANY video game with any degree of regularity until Mario 64.

i took all the buttons off a PS1 controller except for one stick and the X button, and he STILL couldn't play bob the builder...

but i picked up an N64 a few weeks ago, and he is totally in to mario 64. noticed him doing the backflip move yesterday...

go figure.

something about nintendo.

Word. I don't own Super Mario 3 but played it. I've been at my home this weekend and been playing the NES. I still love it.

I think SMB3 is such a classic because it was the first to offer such degree of non-linear gameplayer. Plus all the cool secrets to discover. I used to spend hours trying to collect all the magic flutes, or trying to turn the turtles on the map into the Treasure Ship by collecting just the right amount of money and finishing on an even-number clock time.

Ah... such fond memories...

You misunderstood me, the speculation is that perhaps since SMW is coming out before SMB3, that the GBA version of SMB3 will be something special. I.E. more updated than the GBA version of SMB2. It's all rumors though.
