GBA: Hardware help.
Hey, a while ago I was useing the gamestop cover light, and it broke. So I got a worm light (it's great), the only problem is that the screen got badly scrached several times. Now it is very annoying to look through it. Is there any where to get this fixed, if so how much is it?
Thanks, Redsox5048. |
First thing I do is search online gamestores to see if they have third party replacement screens. I know they were out for the GB, GB Pocket, and GB Color. But I haven't seen any for the GBA yet, though I haven't been looking. They shouldn't be all the expensive if you can find one. If that fails, call nintendo and see if you can order one, or to find out how much it would cost to have them replace it if they won't just mail you a screen.

Here is a third party replacement screen.
http://www.upstategames.com/gba_hw_screen.phtml I remember seeing the original Nintendo replacement screen, but I can't find the link anymore. I will post it if I can find it later! |
This is the original Nintendo Replacement Screen, which is only $3.99 (cheaper than the third party one). Shipping is $2.50.
I don't know how to copy the URL from the Nintendo Site. Just follow the steps below: 1. go to http://store.nintendo.com 2. Select Game Boy 3. Select Game Boy Advance 4. Select Parts & Accessories 5. Select Screen Cover Kit |
I wonder if the third party screen is less reflective than the nintendo one. If it is it would help with the lighting as it would reduce glare. Likely it's just the same though.

The only thing about the Third Party screen is that you will not have the Nintendo Game Boy Advance logo there anymore.

This helped me greatly too, thanks.
FYI...if you are REALLY abusive on your GBA and can live without the "official" screen, there is an eBay seller offering (2) 3rd party screens for like $4 and $2 shipping. They don't come with the "tool" that Nin's does, but they pop off easy. I bought the 1st party because I just need to replace the screen on a used machine I bought super cheep cheep, |
If I do get the 3rd party screens, how do I go about taking the old screen off? Could I just pry it with a screw driver?

Anyway, I wonder if the third party screen is as easy to be removed as the Official Nintendo screen, in case you need to change screen again in the future. Anyway, I think I will pay couple bucks more for the official products. |
