Great topic.

You get a sharper and brighter picture when upgrading from composite to S-video cables. This is what it is suppose to do. It is evident in the pictures you provided.
It would be interesting to see how much of a difference there is when upgrading from S-video to component (progressive scan).

I couldn't find the one of Pikmin with S-video I saw a couple days ago, but the improvement when upgraded to component was signifigant. I was very impressed. It got rid of some jaggies, but was not as clear as the prog scan one...
