RedOctane Question
I had seen ads for RedOctane in the past, but when I saw that Geoff was offering a deal on a trial version, I subscribed. My initial contact with RO was absolutely fantastic, but in the midst of a series of e-mail questions, both the person I was talking with and all of CS must have had severe server problems.
What have been your experiences with RedOctane? |
no probs here. I just added 4 games to my que yesterday. which reminds me... i need to send back Smackdown 3
|
What's the time delay in their shipping? After they've received your last game?

So no one uses RedOctane? |
I've used RedOctane in the past and it works like NetFlix. I didn't have any problems. When I did use it I thought the signout process was poorly designed and their inventory isn't always up to date.
I couldn't justify to myself to pay the x amt per month for rentals when I have three Blockbuster video, two Hollywood video, and other rentals places within one mile of my house. |
Ah, but RedOctane doesn't work like Netflix. I gave two Netflix discs to the mail delivery person on the 24th, and they've already been received by Netflix. Contrast that with the twenty-some days from the initial order until actual delivery. And Netflix has thousands of titles. RedOctane has only a few (I'm only interested in PS2 games). And, Netflix supporters are everywhere. Where are all the RedOctane supporters? Two here, and one (who had heard of RedOctane) on another forum.
As soon as they ship the next set (when????), I'll tell 'em that they've been dumped. I absolutely hate going to local rental stores. |
RedOctane is horribly slow compared with Netflix. I tried Netflix before, and they usually receive/arrive within a few days. I have a few games in queue so far for RedOctane, and I STILL havent' receive the first game yet. I thought it was the holiday delay in the mail, but it sounds like they are are slow at best. RO is still the only real choice to rent new-generation games over the internet, however, so there aren't much alternatives as of yet
(I almost said "next-generation" games...oh that defunct mag.) :) |
