Which B&M retailer is best to try and get credit for a sealed PS2?

Due to some eBay silliness it looks like I may end up with a sealed PS2 and would like to try and return it to a local B&M for store credit. The two local stores I'd like to try is Wal-Mart and Circuit City (with CC being preferrable).

Has anyone ever done this? I'll probably try after Christmas when making a return might be easier.

I doubt you would have much luck at Circuit City. But Wal-Mart and Target should be no problem. Although the highest value item I ever returned was $50 (for Max Payne, I lost my CompUsa reciept, then of course 2 days after, I find my reciept!!)

Ususally after Christmas, they are fairly liberal on returns.

More info about Target's return policy:

They will allow you to return items for store credit without a recipt 3 times per calendar year. The clerk will ask you for your driver's liscense and will record your ID number into the computer. Thats how they make sure you can only do it 3 times.

Are you sure that's not an old policy? I called recently and she said that the policy changed on Nov. 1.

They used to take credits without receipts on all items under $80, now it's only on sealed items under $10.

But if that's still accurate, I'll go right now because there about 12 Xboxes at my Target :)

Yep, just called Target and what I said still stands. :(

GOD I HATE LOS ANGELES.

Don't think you will have any luck at CC. They will ask who bought it for you even if you say it was a gift & try & find it in their computer. They did that to me on a CD player I needed to return. It was a gift, and I wasn't sure where it was purchased. Tried Best Buy and had good luck with them on the CD player.

I work in the electronics dept at Target, here is some help:

You won't be able to return it.

You ALWAYS need a receipt for ANY purchase made in the electronics dept.

Yep - Target does indeed suck.

Having a lot better luck with Wal-Mart, actually. bbox, that sounds like WM's return policy. :)

I say just wait until after Christmas if you can. Many stores are usually really flexible after the holidays are over.

Yeah, I'll probably be waiting until after Christmas to do any returning and it looks like Wal-mart will be my best bet. My ultimate goal I believe will be to try and exchange the PS2 for an XBox. Still I believe I may have a hard time find an XBox after Christmas perhaps.
