I finally finished Halo

I ahve been playing since I picked up the Xbox on the 15th...

I finished this past weekend on Normal difficulty.

The ending was the most amazing part of the game, and that is saying something since the rest of the game was spectacular!!!

I will not ruin the ending for those who have yet to finish, but I can say it is VERY different from what you would expect and it is the most pulse quickening part of the game!!!

If Halo does not get GOTY, then I don't know what will...

Halo has my vote!

Did you watch thru the entire credit sequence?
Spoiler:
At the end of the credits the little blue robot thingy survived the blast and flies off into space, kinda like Vader at the end of Star Wars Definatley sets up the sequel.

I've started over on Heroic. Boy does it get tough.

Yes, I did see that! Cool!

I decided to switch to another game and then come back and replay Halo on a harder setting...

I am currently working on Oddworld.

Y'know, I'm not really enjoying Halo. To each his own, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

For Game of the Year though, I think I'd go with GTA3. I won't go so far as to say "revolutionary" but it was the most wide open and fun gaming experience I've had in a long, long time. I liked MGS2 a lot as well, but the freedom you have with GTA3 puts it over the edge in my book.

I'm tempted to buy this one but I'm not really into the military type games. Is the game good enough to get past that?

JaxComet: Yes. But it's not military strategy. It's just kill everything that moves (except for the marines).

I beat the game on Legendary and there's an extra scene at the end that makes it worth beating again. If you've beaten the game on a different setting you can play just the last level on Legendary and see the extended ending.

Over the weekend I got to play 8-player Halo. Unfrickinbelievable.

Once exams are over, I think I'll try playing through all the way on Legendary since I just beat it on normal. I'll also try the online hookup. Can't wait.

I finally finished it yesterday and all I can say is...wow! That last level was incredible.

My gaming roots go back to the Atari 2600, I've owned just about every major video game console since, and I can honestly say that Halo is best game that I have ever played.

Time to move on to Baldur's Gate for the PS2...

Am I the only who hated the assault on the control room level? It just repeats again and again. Parts of it are cool though.

I hated that last mad dash in the Warthog
Spoiler:
I kept thinking the last big jump Cortanan described was across to where the burning boxes were, I'd miss everytime!!! I would always restart, stupid me!! Little did I know that if I kept on driving after I landed I would be finished in less than a minute

I coulda told you. Don't stop on the last level, even if Cortana says you need to.

If you're playing just to beat it, there's a great shortcut on that level. It's at the part right before it goes letterbox and the text at the lower right-hand corner says "If I had a superweapon..."

Spoiler:
Right when the door opens to the outside you have to cross a snow-covered bridge. About 20m ahead there's an Elite that jumps into a banshee and begins to attack you. If you can throw a grenade far enough that it lands near the banshee, you can flip it over (provided it doesn't fall off the bridge) preventing the Elite from using it. Once you clear the area, flip over the Banshee, hop in and fly off to the left to the top of the pyramid to get to the end of the level.

The really irritating part however, is how you have to come back through the exact same way later on, when you need to blow up the generators.

Well...I finally beat Halo last night. I know what you are thinking! Why the hell did it take you so long? I have had my Xbox with Halo since December 15th. A buddy & I have been playing co-op since that time about twice a month or less with finishing just one or 2 levels at a sitting.

I was a good (and patient) friend & never played past any levels that we hadn't played together by myself so we could enjoy the surprises at the same time. A bunch of us hasve been playing deathmatches of 6 or more & that helped tide me over.

It was worth the wait! The final run was unbelievable! Totally intense!

Another buddy & I have been working on it in Legendary mode for the past month (off & on just like before) & I pretty much know everything that is coming up. Of course he doesn't & I feel a little bit sad about not being able to be surprised with him...but whatcha gonna do? I am definitely interested in seeing the extra scene on Legendary mode...but the way we play, so off & on, I will enjoy it in a couple more months.

So has anyone done it this way with Halo or any other games. Waited until you could finish it with a buddy & not go forward by yourself no matter how much the temptation?

That's how I felt. I really, really hate how the warthog drives. It was actually a bit of a game killer for me because it was so irritating, like the obligatory Under-Water level in so many games.
