I regret almost every accessory I bought from third parties like Interact. Every Controller, memory card, etc I bought turned out to be junk. I only buy stuff from the maker of the console now. It might be more expensive, but all my Nintendo, Sega, and Sony made stuff is still working fine.

Back in the day, I decided to buy a Sega Master System instead of a Nintendo Entertainment System. *sigh* The SMS had some great games, though... After Burner, Shinobi, Quartet, the shooting game, and the Spy Hunter clone... oh, I played the heck out of that one, but I forget it's name. Even though I can still hear its theme music. And don't forget about the snail maze game.
Console wars good! But buying loser bad.

I bought RE 2 the day it came out, at full price. All the reviewers were falling over themselves praising the game, so I felt it was a safe purchase. After an impressive FMV opening, I got my first taste of a RE game. I couldn't control the characters at all, expecting them to move in the diorection I pressed the D-pad. I ran out of ammo and was killed in seconds. I repeated this process several times, then just said "f#%$ it" and put the game away. I never played it again. Some people love these games, and I have no problem with that, but I'm still not over that $50 purchase. Let's just say that when the RE series bolted to the GC, I didn't mind very much

The Nintendo 64. I hardly used that system. I played Mario and Mario Kart, but that's about it.
Ended up getting a Playstation because that system had all the good RPGs.
Also didn't like Parasite Eve 2. The gameplay was nothing like the original. It was too much like RE - so I sucked at it.

Another vote for the Nintendo 64. I can remember 3 games we actually played on that thing over a 4 year period. It was either collecting dust or being lent to younger relatives for very long periods (as in 6 months at a time).
It was by far the single biggest disapointment in gaming history.

Anyone remember the Action Max?
It was a game system with light gun that hooked to the TV and VCR.
The games were on VHS tapes and were basically a 15-20 minute short film and the player had to shoot stuff on the screen.
I had two "games" for it:
Sonic Fury - Fighter game
Hydrosub 2021 - Submarine game
It had little replay value as it's the same footage every time you play, plus the acting in the games is SO HORRIBLY BAD it's funny.
I remember paying $80 for it the week it came out, and less than a month later it dropped to $40, then was obsolete within 3 months (if that.)

Regret buying:
Almost anything by Interact. The Gameshark worked alright, but it almost constantly needed to be upgraded for new games and after awhile, I barely used it at all. The memory cards were hit or miss. The lightguns for the PSX (the big blue ones or the "phasor" ones, I had one of each) sucked.
The JogCon controller (w/ RR4). Ick. I think I've used it once/twice, as the Dual Shock works SO much better.
The Single Shock PSX controller - yes, there was such a beast, tho very few people seem to remember it. It works with Rally Cross, Ace Combat 2, and something else (for vibration, the dual analog sticks still work with everything). And thats about it Right after it was released, Sony announced the Dual Shock.
As for games, I've bought quite a few duds...it seems to be unavoidable. Lost World comes to mind, as does Perfect Weapon. Then there are the Contra PSX games, the Loaded series, and even, dare I say it, the Tomb Raider series.

There's a lot in the past. Currently, Devil May Cry. Everyone was falling over themselves to give this game a good review, and even my best friend was telling me how I "had to get it", and how bad ass it was.
I should have listened to myself on this one. I didn't much care for resident evil, and RPGs don't get my blood running. I played this game about a hour the day I got it, and on the shelf it went. In my opinion, the control sucks, the camera angle sucks, and the only redeeming feature is that it looks very pretty.
I should have just bought Grand Theft Auto 3 instead. I haven't been this disappointed with a game since Castlevania 64. I should know better than to drop $50 on a game I've not played.

another vote for Sega CD... it had so much going for it too! Although I will give it credit where credit is due for 'Lunar' which was one of the best RPGs I EVER played and 'Sonic CD' was also awesome.

I had some weird Super Nintendo controller that never worked so well. Instead of having a D-pad, it had a little area that you just slid your thumb across, supposedly to prevent getting blisters. It didn't matter, because everybody still pressed the hell out of it anyway.
"D" for the Sega Saturn. Paid 50 bucks for it and beat it the same day in under 3 hours. I don't think I've ever been that annoyed.
The Nintendo 64. I played Perfect Dark and Mario Kart quite a bit, but most of the time it just sat there collecting dust.

Best accessory that I've ever bought must be wireless controllers. A system isn't a system without the wireless controllers.
Worst system I bought...PS2. No games really clicked with me. And I wasn't about to keep it for just two games (Metal Gear Solid 2 and Grand Theft Auto 3). It surely wasn't hard for me to sell though.

Friggin' Sega CD - I was almost to embarrassed to type it - until I saw a few other people here also had that pile of crap. Rise of the Dragon was a sweet game, but the rest sucked. Luckily I found out early that Sega was pulling the plug on it and got a pretty good amount for it at Funcoland.

I regret getting Sega ANYTHING. 32X is bad, but i hated my genesis too. Never bought a single game for it. SNES beat it in every category possible. All the games that i rented for sega were just low quality compared to SNES.
I'm glad sega is out of the hardware business. They had no faith in their fanbase, and Never gave 100% to their own product. (32x cd saturn dreamcast sms) They just half assed it at every step.

Hmm...
I really don't have any systems I regret buying. I do/did have systems that I really wished caught on though. Most of it is/was Atari stuff. My first real game system was a 2600, back when they first came out. If memory serves they were around 200 dollars new at Sears at the time.
I bought an Atari 7800 instead of a NES 8-bit. Flame me if you want, but I liked the 7800. Like so many things Atari, it just didn't catch on. I remember Pole Position, Robotron 2084 (ohhhh I spent soooo much time with that one), Food Fight (hey, I liked the arcade game .. ), Joust (rocked!), etc. I just wish I could find a working unit/cartridges for something other than collector prices.
The Atari Lynx portable (which I still have and play). It had back-lit color, stereo sound, etc, and some really good games. Nice hardware for the time (competitors were original B&W Game Boy, Game Gear, and TG16 portable). Again, I wish I could find stuff for it at something other than collector prices.
Believe it or not, I still really like my Jaguar. Aliens v. Predator, Tempest 2000, Iron Soldier, etc. The CD drive was nice too. I was finally able to play the actual arcade versions of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. Primal Rage was/is a cool CD Game too IMHO. (Anybody got any Jaguar stuff around they want to get rid of?) 'Twas a real nice piece of hardware IMHO, but like everything that came from Atari after the 2600, was a marketing fiasco. Great hardware, lousy marketing and no developer support. Oh well. RIP Atari. At least the coin-op division lives on...
So, no real regrets buying/getting the above, just regrets that the systems never caught on.

Power glove for nintendo and the sega 32X damn thing blew up my Sega.
What version of sega cd did you guys have 1 or 2? For those that do not know 1 looked like a VCR and 2 looked like a diskman with an etra slot. I had 2 and used it for 5-6 years before i had any problems.
