Is NHL 2k2 still on track for a DC release?
 

Does anyone have any idea. I mean I know they have been working on it...I just don't want to see it get canceled like so many games for the DC have.

After Shenmue II got cancelled in the US I lost what litte faith in Sega's support I had left.

Anyone?

I myself have been asking the same question for quites some time now...and from what I can find to read online about it here's my thoughts...

Initially, yes, the DC version was being talked about and even stuck on some release lists. It has since disappeared, and Sega has said that NHL2k2 is going to be available across "multiple platforms". Now, with them saying that they will continue to support the DC into 2002, You'd assume that it would be on the slate, seeing as the game doesn't require the marketing push that a title like Shenmue 2 would, which is cash that Sega just doesn't have at this current moment. Assuming that NHL2k2 makes it though is a bit flawed, but it would make sense, as the sports titles have been few and far between lately. NFL2k2 and NBA2k2 were total givens, and WSB2k2 may be one as well, but I just don't know about NHL...

No doubt that the first one was fantastic, despite a slightly problematic camera angle, and showed that a "year" of tweaking and a new feature here and there would have made it one solid hockey game, if not better than the EA Sports offerings, which it already was in the sense of realism and AI...

I can only hope that it comes out and is done right...regardless of what system it releases for...It would make a fantastic addition to my XBOX library just as much as my DC library.

The NHL2k2 on the DC, is sort of murky. Some say yes, some say no.

I'd say it'll be out, but it will be the worst of the "multi platform" version.

Sega could have released Shenmue II in the states with ZERO advertising for the DC and it would have sold, it is a sequel. They are really stabbing DC users in the back with this move because a great many of us are going to be buying the UK version. FOOLS

Don't get me wrong, it looked beautiful, but the play was shite. The way the players skated looked very weird, sort of forced. I think they just rushed to get it out in the first place and realized this by not releasing NHL2K1. Hopefully it will be released, maybe it will be another Euro only release. Won't matter, I'll still get it :D
