The harddrive name should come up in other games as well.

My box is "Disco". Pretty cool I think. Better than "The Big L".

Personally, I think the names are going to come into play once the XBOX online network is up and running. It might be used to identify players, group players into teams, etc. I can't wait. :)

So that cartman doesn't feel so bad, I think we should come up with some cool words that start with "L".

How about: "The Big Lovemuscle" :)

Are you sure that the XBOX name's are unique to the system and does not rely on any info or saved game data?

Because if it is just random luck as to what the box's name is, mine is just too weird.. .. On the Halo multiplayer wait screen, the name Chris is written above my Xbox. Funny thing is, that's my name. My name was also listed as player 1. For a split second when that screen shows up, there is a question mark (?) right above the XBOX logo that immediately changes to "CHRIS" in all caps. My name under player profile #1 is "Chris" not in all caps. Weird. Is there another way I can test this?

The L where I'm from is saying that you're gonna hand it to someone. Therefore, I would think that "The Big L" is telling someone that they're about to take the big loss. Pretty cool if you ask me.

I never said that these names were uniques to each system. As a matter of fact, if you read my earlier posts in this thread, you'll see that my XBOX name 'SNAKE' is not unique.

I think it's just coincidence that it has your actual name listed. I think that's pretty cool. But you're right. A split second before the name is listed you see a '?' immediately replaced by the mystery name.

Nothing wrong with Walla Walla. It's a city in Eastern Washington, renowned for its onions.

I'm not exactly sure why, but my Xbox's name is exactly the same as my real name. And my name is pretty unique. I'm not sure if it's because the high score is currently held by my named profile or what.
