Dreamcast - HEADHUNTER 1 CD v 2cd Repack version ?
I have the 1 cd version of headhunter
just wondering if anyone has the 2 cd Repack version of headhunter ? if so , what are the major differences ? cheers |
Sounds like you're talking about the pirated versions of the game. The original game only has 1 CD.
|
1 cd version - 95% of movies ripped out
2 cd version - 5% of movies ripped out |
So you're saying there's a pirate version out there that has more movies than the actual legit release?
If not, how can a one gig CD hold more than 2 regular CDs? |

did echelon release HH at all?? i know the 2 disc repack going around is by pulsar... haven't seen an .nfo file for the 1 or 2 disc version anywhere though...
|
1st release - Fooligans
2nd release - Pulsar |
Sorry for being so stupid, but is this an unreleased game that the hackers got access to and released like Thrill Kill? I've never heard of Headhunter.
|
Yeah, I thought Headhunter for the DC was scrapped...

Are they still planning on releasing this in the US?

Why release this in Europe, but not the US? Is it another Shenmue II deal where Sega is making it an Xbox exclusive in the US?
BTW I got the pulsar version and tried it out. It seems like a very cool game. I would have bought this one for the DC in a minute. |

Oh yes, we will definately release Shenmue II US, then pull it. Propeller Arena, Half Life, the list goes on and on. Basically, who knows what the F they are thinking. http://www.duhspot.com/users/smiley/.../zxflipoff.gif Sega Marketing! |
Originally posted by mljones99 But did you ever think that he could have imported it? I know for sure it is out overseas Sure, the game may have been released overseas, but that wasn't the intended gist of the thread from what I picked up after reading the first few posts. |
Originally posted by Liquid Death So there are two offical and legal European versions, one with 95% of the movies and one with 5% of the movies? Thats a new one by me ;) Just played it for a few minutes and its pretty good, kinda that Metal Gear Solid type espionage game. |
Removed info about bootleg

oy... now pulsar has released a 'fix' because there's a problem with disc 2:
It seems that only one cinematic was checked on Head Hunter CD2 and we have ripped it off :( lucky us :). There's only 24 hours in a day, and we can't change that. We hope that people with brain can understand that we can't sit around on our couches and playtest games for a week or two and make sure that every single little option or cinematics work. Because of that, the enduser was being unable to finish CD2. Once this fix is applied on the disc, you will be able to fully enjoy this amazing game. Follow these detailed fix instructions in Windows 9X to fixup your copy... |
Does the legitimate European release come on one disc or two? If it's one, it seems strange that Pulsar couldn't fit the whole game onto two regular CDs.

While I understand the frustration about Sega basically going back on their word in terms of game support for the Dreamcast it's still not cool to point people to bootlegs on DVD Talk.
|
anyone know if this game will work (more importantly save) on a US DC - if I import it?
|
Save as in Memory Card? Yes, one of the first things the game does is check your memory card.
|
I want to buy this game, can anyone recommend a place to get good prices on European imports?
|
The prices at www.simplygames.com seem good
I will probably be getting Evil Twin Shenmue II Headhunter (2 disc) I have never imported games for any platform but these games are simply must haves for a DC lover. |
Stuck
Can anyone help? I'm on disc 2 below deck on the queen of hearts ship. I found Greywolf (or whatever his name is- the leader of the Wolf Pack) he's dead in a tube and now, I don't know what to do. The game still has a objective of finding him hilighted and also I have to find The Don. Can you point me in the right direction?

Whoa. While it's true that Sega has screwed us over, bootlegs are NOT the only option. Imported games will play fine on the US Dreamcast with the help of a boot disc. There are many kinds available (some you can even download off the net and burn yourself), and I think the Gameshark CDX will work as well. Electronics Boutique is even stocking Shenmue II (with boot disc) at their retail stores (not sure about any other titles).
PAL is not an issue. As long as the boot disc boots into NTSC, the game will run fine. Yes, it's inconvenient to track down an import copy, but honestly, it's not like they stock the bootlegs at Wal-Mart, either. |
Shenmue II and Headhunter both recognize NTSC upon boot up no problems there.
DC-X cd or Gameshark work as boot discs, also Utopia 1.1 can be found for free on the net. Newer DCs won't read cdrs so check the date on the bottom of your unit before using Utopia. Jun 2001 is the cutoff (I think) After playing these two titles I really am numb towards Sega these both qualify as truly class AA titles and would have sold well in the states. The company that produces some of the best titles in the business also knows how to sink their own ship, as they have proven time and time again. |

www.simplygames.com no longer ships to the U.S.A. Anyone knowwhere I can import Head Hunter from.
|
www.gameplay.co.uk
comes to around $45 per game for headhunter (2gdrom) and Shen II (4gdrom) shipped. No boot disc though they should have Rez, and Ninety Mins as well those look cool. If you have no boot disc buy Shen II from www.ebgames.com and then get Headhunter and some other title from gameplay. I know Headhunter and Shen II work fine on US DC but can't vouch for other games. Seems as if Sega was paid off to abandon the DC and port its best titles over to the other consoles as exclusives (rumor has it that Headhunter will be a PS2 title), Shen II X-Box. I have no problem paying the same for a first run import title shipped as I would in the States for it. As long as it plays properly. |
Originally posted by Thunderball It's extremely inconvenient to go order an import copy, and then pay $10-$15 more for it then I would have here. But as was pointed out, the prices are not any more than they would be here. Also, you're getting the complete game, not a 95% rip. And, of course, it's legal (not that that anyone here seems to care. Cyber-piracy seems so innocent when you don't get caught, doesn't it?)-rolleyes- Besides, I don't consider importing supporting Sega so much as it is supporting the Dreamcast. Screw PS2 & X-Box. They're overpriced and underwhelming. I'll play the games on the system they were made for. |
