Bought a NES (original Nintendo) today, need some game suggestions

Just bought a Nintendo earlier today. Got a decent deal on it, and the guy who sold it still had the box and everything. Anyways....

I need some suggestions on good classic games to buy. I bought a couple of games for cheap today, but they werent as good as I remembered. (Super Spike Volley Ball and Skate or Die I)

What are some really god NES games. What is your to 5 (or ten, or whatever)

Looking forward to some responses.

I think I am going to get Mike Tysons Punch Out... Is that as good as I rememebered it to be?

Super Dodge Ball is my favorite. If you want to know what is good, download an NES emulator and try before you buy.

Ah, a nintendo system, sure you can download those emulators but nothing beats the feeling of playing hands on with the system itself. Well these are my fav. nintendo games in no particular order:

Ninja Gaiden 1, 2 and 3
Super Mario Bros 3
Mike Tyson's Punchout
Kung-Fu
Contra
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
The Legend of Zelda
Double Dragon
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Paperboy

I have a pretty decent collection of NES games:

Chip and Dale

contra

Super Mario 1, 2, 3
Zelda 1, 2
Ninja Gaiden

Dude, the Super Spike Volleyball is like ... the best game ever for the NES ... at least that's the only reason why my friend isn't getting rid of his NES. The setup up's kinda funny, as the NES sits right next to his PS2.

Yeah, I've got a PS2, but decided that I wanted a NES for the nostalgic games.

SS V-ball is okay, but you can spike it on the other team every time and it is impossible to lose. What can you expect for $2.00...

BTW picked up MT's punch out today... god I love that game

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming

These plus both wizards & warriors and all 3 double dragon games. also Spy hunter, RC pro am, blades of steel and final fantasy. IMO noting beats the original final fantasy.

BTW get a powerpad if you can. It's funny as hell when people try to use it at parties and are drunk.

Seriously, my favorite NES game was M.C. Kids, or sometimes called McDonald Kids. Its not kiddy at all, its REALLY hard, and it plays kinda like Super Mario 3.... Its SO damn awesome!

If you like football, then Super Tecmo Bowl is a MUST. It was simply the absolutely best football game that came out on any platform for a looonnng time. Graphics would improve as each new generation of football games came but the stat keeping, season and post season play were not matched for years.

I have a friend that still plays it today on an ancient Nintendo.

This is actually one of the games I plan on picking up.

I think I may go with the original Tecmo Bowl though. This way I can have the good Bears defense, water payton, a good 49ers Joe Montana team with roger craig and Rathman, and Bo Jackson and Marcus allen in the same backfield.
