PS2: Horizontal or Vertical?

Down or up? Which way is better overall??!!

edit: post your reasons as well

I like mine down. I currently have my PS1 on top of it. I plan on putting my XBOX on top when it comes out. Since I have a few little kids running around, I didn't want to take the chance of it tipping over.

I have been trying to convince people that you should NEVER put your ps2 vertically I have multiple games with circular scracthes from playing it that way only a few times. Some people dismis it but I have seen too many wrecked games from multiple systems for it to be a freak thing.

im sorry to hear about the mishap you guys.. i heard it from a rep at funcoland and they said the same thing, so i bought a horizontal thing from pelican, it's nice put dvds and games on top and controllers on the side ..

Horizontal. I'm afraid it'll topple over if I place it vertically.
I guess setting it vertically is supposed to make the laser last longer, but my Playstation lasted a long time (and it was always set up horizontally). The only reason I think it died is because I dropped it a few time.

Well it wouldn't topple over if you used the stand =) I've got one vertical, and one horizontal. Personally I like it vertical though.

I used to have it vertical and I experienced no problems with scratched discs or the other problems that some people complained about when having the system vertical. However, now I keep it horizontal just to be on the safe side. If you do want to stand it up vertically, then use the stand :)

physically on top of the PS or like on top as in an above shelf? I don't think you'd want to put the Xbox physically on top of another component, it's bigger than some VCRs.

Yikes, I did not realize that the xbox was that big. I thought everything was getting smaller? Oh, well. I will get the xbox none the less.

Vertical w/ a vertical stand, because:

1. No one else other than me in the apt. to knock it over,
2. It looks sorta cool,
3. There's no more room in my A/V cabinet! I've already got my cable box perched on top of my TV... I thought about getting an adjustable PS2 vertical stand to use with my cable box. :)

I had mine vertical since I got in last year but the other day I moved it to do some cleaning and left it horizontal just for a change. I've never had a problem having it vertical. not a single one of my games have even the slightest scratch.

Horizontal:
As the only thing it's good for is a nice stand for my Dreamcast.

Spicollidriver1 08-30-01 01:35 PM

actually to clarify mine is horizontal right now, in a couple different spots since I broke it anyways.

Horizontal

I have my PS2 on the middle rack of an audio tower with the horizontal stand. It looks great like that.

Scott 09-04-01 08:23 AM

Horizontal, just like all of my other components. I don't want to risk scratching a disk when it falls out.
