In a surprising announcement, Infogrames revealed that it had reached a major licensing agreement to develop video games based on the Terminator movies.
Under the agreement, Infogrames now has the right to develop and publish games based on the movies TERMINATOR and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY for current and next-generation systems, such as the GameCube and X-Box, and also for the PC and Macintosh. The first game is currently set for a Spring 2002 release, and will be developed by Infogrames internally.
The games will be very consistent with the movies' plots. While the TERMINATOR line of games will be based mainly on that movie, the TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY line will be a continuation from where TERMINATOR left off, and will introduce new elements and characters.
Infogrames currently has four Terminator games in development.
