wow, this is surprising, especially in Japan: http://www.coremagazine.com/news/4348.php3 According to sales figures released today and compiled from several retail chains across Japan, Sega dethroned Sony last week. Recently released Dreamcast games Exodus Guilty, Segagaga and Crazy Taxi 2 all ranked within the top ten. Meanwhile Gran Turismo 3 which has remained within the top 5 since its release last month, slipped to number 9. Below is a recap of the top ten titles for last week. 1. Exodus Guilty - Dreamcast 2. Segagaga - Dreamcast 3. Dracula Chronicles - Game Boy 4. Emblem Saga - PlayStation 5. Crazy Taxi 2 - Dreamcast 6. Student - PlayStation 7. Dracula's Castle - Game Boy Advance 8. Final Fight One - Game Boy Advance 9. Gran Turismo 3 - PlayStation 2 10. Endonesia - PlayStation 2 |
Bogus.
I saw this at Coremagazine too, and when I read it, I knew it was bogus. Why? Here's a quick recap: 1) There's no such thing as "Dracula Chronicles" on the Game Boy. There WAS a Dracula Chronicles released on the Playstation however, but it debuted a week ago at #10. And a ten year-old game shovelwared onto the PS isn't likely to suddenly shoot up to #3. 2) There's no such thing as "Emblem Saga". The game has long been renamed "Tear Ring Saga" in order to avoid a lawsuit from Nintendo. 3) "Dracula's Castle" for Game Boy Advanced has dropped off the Top 30 Best Selling game a while ago already. How in the world did it suddenly go back into the top 10?!?!?! Here's a MUCH better resource for Top 30 best-selling games in Japan: http://www.geocities.com/chtang.geo/topten.htm |
