Cube.ign.com just updated with the following:
The following screenshots are scanned from NextGen Magazine. It should also be noted that they come from a build of Rogue Leader that is more than a month old and, as you can see, does not yet feature proper bump-mapping or advanced lighting effects, which developers LucasArts and Factor 5 have since then added. Still, bearing all of this in mind, we think you'll agree that the game looks spectacular, even at its early stage. |
I might buy the game cube just to have this title!
I loved rogue squadron for N64! :D |
Steven Kent from MSNBC.com was invited by LucasArts to play Rogue Squadron 2! Here is a sample of his impressions:
Forget anything you have heard about polygon counts and processor sizes — this re-creation of the cinema’s most famous battle is nearly flawless. GameCube may not boast the largest polygon counts, but it makes very smart use of polygons and textures, resulting in an amazingly true-to-the-movies recreation. From the moment you enter the trench that circles the Death Star, you cannot help but notice the crisp look of its walls. These are not the faded and rough-looking walls in past Star Wars games — including Starfighter on PlayStation 2. This trench has the same dull plastic look as the one in the movies. http://www.msnbc.com/news/571518.asp?0nm=C11R |

Looks awesome. I really think the Gamecube is going to surprise a lot of people. So many people count them out because of the "failure" of the N64. I'm sure Nintendo learned their lesson and will make sure the Gamecube is a top notch system. The console wars sure will be interesting next spring when the PS2 is seeing 2nd gen games and the Gamecube and Xbox are really getting rolling.

It's no doubt gonna look good.......but I can't be the only one who wishes the engine'd used for an X-Wing game and NOT a Rogue Squadron game.

Oh my GOD. I've heard talk already that this game could be a "Game of the Show" contender, and from the screen shots--wow. If it plays as sweet as it looks, I'll probably end up going with a GC myself. I'm a complete slave to Lucas and his SW empire...

I can't wait to get this one, I love Star Wars games!
