To anyone who has played a ps1 game on the ps2, should the game look better or worse (or the same) than it did on the ps1 console? I have heard people say different things. I know that the games should load faster because of the faster cd drive on the ps2 and I would expect the games to look the same and possibly better. Please post your input.

The games do look slightly better, but it's nothing revolutionary. Just a little smoother and crisper. The loading is a bit faster as well.

That's my .02

Yes, they do look slightly better, but you must set it up in the configurations. You have to turn on the smoothing and fast loading.

For me, the games look worse without the smoothing, but that's mainly because I have my PS2 running into my component video inputs. With the smoothing, they look slightly better (some more than others). It's nothing revolutionary, though.

The improvement in video quality depends on the type of game. Basically the PS2 option just smooths the texture dithering so that you don't see as much of a grainy pattern on the color transitions.

Recent 3D games that are really pushing the PSX show the most improvement. I see a noticeable difference in games like Vagrant Story, Tony Hawk 2, and Metal Gear Solid. Older games don't have as much texture detail and don't seem much different.

I don't use the fast load, because I've heard about possible problems with games failing to load or audio/video being out of sync.

Also, I tried the Arcade Party Pack on PS2, and Toobin / Super Sprint won't work. There are lists floating around of other titles that fail as well... mostly obscure stuff, though.
