When you guys talk about the first one, are you referring to Wolfenstein 3D? 'Cause that certainly wasn't the first one. You have to go all the way back to Castle Wolfenstein for the Apple II. A very revolutionary game for its day!

I've played them all(including on the snes), and I am looking forward to this one this might be something to stop me from playing Quake 3 at least on the pc. Yeah I can spend my time playing this on pc, and when I need a Qauke fix I'll play my dc, and PS2 version.

When you say "the original", do you mean the original IBM/Apple II Castle Wolfenstein? Or Wolfenstein 3D?

I'd really love to see a new Wolf in a Quake III engine. I just hope it's as hard as Wolf 3D was. I kicked @ss at Doom when it first came out because I'd honed my FPS skills on the (much harder, IMHO) Wolf 3D.

In Wolf, you had to be very careful, because even the little guards could kill you quickly, and you couldn't dodge their shots. That said, I still finished all six levels without cheating. I went back and played it about a month ago, and I was surprised at how hard it still was.

...and nothing beat finding the hidden Wolfenstein levels in Doom II.

The level of difficulty on wolfenstien 3-d was very extreme. I loved it. thats where i started my FPS skills aswell.

It was extremely balanced.
3 shots could kill you thus you had to be very careful at how you attacked.

the secrets of the game are a kick ass feature. I still can't find 100% secrets in every level.

According to PC GAMER Magazine, June 2001 (eh, this month)issue:

Percentage Complete: 60%
Release Date: Late Fall 2001

It's likely they would delay but approximate late Fall to Spring.

I could at one time, but only because I downloaded a level editor and painted all the secret doors with a big sign that said "secret door". It doesn't take long to memorize where they are.

There's a hidden level with pac-men ghosts (and if you look at it in a level editor, it is a pac-man maze), and if you find the secret door there, there's a sign with a 1-800 number to apogee and a secret word you're supposed to say for a free prize. I never called, so I don't know what the prize was. I felt kinda bad because I cheated to find it.
