what's your fav ?
|
Sub Zero's spine rip from Mortal Kombat.
|
i remember how cool I thought that was the first time I saw it. I always prefered ripping the beating heart out and showing it to your opponent before they die.
|
Interesting topic...boy, I have several favorites, but I guess since I was a Raiden fanatic back in the MK1/MK2 days, I'd have to say the lightning bolt-to-the-head-and-make-it-explode fatality was my favorite. I also liked any fatality that torched the opponent (such as Sonya's kiss of death or Scorpion's fire breath) just because of the writhing-screaming-in-pain death animation. :D
|
I'm going to add something else here...I remember when MK came under all kinds of fire due to the fatalities. Yes, I remember being a little taken back at first (the first one I ever saw was Sub-Zero's spine rip), but I think anyone who played MK at any length would agree that the novelty wore off pretty quickly, and the most fun came out of the fighting itself. I know MK wasn't the deepest fighter out there, but it still required quick thinking and strategy, just like any other fighter. People who don't play video games only see the fatalities and instantly think that's the entire game. God forbid they see anything that might be positive in terms of developing a person's reflexes, developing strategies on-the-fly, quick decision making, etc.
Okay, off the soapbox now... :) |
Personally, I liked Raiden's changed fatality in MK for the SNES. The one where he shocks you, turns your body into dust, and your skull rolls around on the ground.
|
to me, nothing was more satisfying than getting the slow moed dragon punch through a fireball, sonic boom, or blanka/honda/bison roll/kick yeaaaa ... ah, memories
|
Raiden's head exploding lightning bolt. It blew me away the first time I did it.
|
i also liked when scorpion slit your throat.
or maybe knocking off 10 heads with johnny cage in mk1 |
MK2 Jax ripping their arms off. Baraka had a couple cools ones, as did scorpion, especially the one where he sliced them up with the whip thing. I usually uses Sheng Tsung(sp?) so I could morph at the end and do a different fatatlity every time.
|
I loved doing the brutalities on Ultimate MK3, I memorized how to do every one. As far as fatalities, I always liked Liu Kang's dragon and Reptile's swallowing of the head for din-din :D
|
Shang Tsung - morph into Kintaro (that big 4-armed guy with tiger-striped skin), let out a roar, and punch the guy in the gut so hard his entire upper body flies across the screen! You had to hold the Low Punch button for like 30 seconds which was a pain in the ass way to play the round, but it was so worth it!
Johnny Cage - grab their waist and yank upwards; then, toss their torso to the ground! Simple and brutal. (both from Mortal Kombat II) |
No...no...no the best fatality is Orchid's flash from killer instinct. what other fatality involves man's favorite kind of melon?
|
Hmmmm I loved the Sub Zero spine rip, but the head smash by Jax was pretty cool as well.
|
Johnny Cage
In my opinion nothing beat defeating your opponent then punching his head right off his/her shoulders. i wish i had a pic here of Mr. Cage'd fatality but this will have to do. Im suprised there aren't any good fan pages out there for MK. oh well

what about in MK2 when you could play as Shang Tsung
morph in sub zero at the end, do sub zeros fatality where he froze you and then did an uppercut.... well if you timed it right you could do someone elses fatality on a frozen person! :) p |
My favorite finishing move would have to be Geese Howard's Raging Storm from the Real Bout Fatal Fury Special/King of Fighters 96/Capcom vs SNK. Not as flashy as the MK fatalities, bus incredably effective.
Tony Ward |
favorite finisher
My favorite finisher is from WWF no mercy. Jeff hardy putting the opponent on the turnbuckle backwards and doing a reverse frankensteiner. The impact from that move could snap ones neck.
-1 Silent yet violent |
How about Kung Lao's hat slice from MKII where he slices the opponent down the middle and you see them fall apart into two halves?
-> -> -> LK :) |
I know that this might not be considered a "finishing move" but it comes to mind when I read this thread.
I liked shooting people in the throat in Goldeneye. How they kinda looked right at you in disbelief, clutching the artery and slumping to their knees. It actually made me feel guilty when I realized that these were people I was killing. They couldn't help being conscripted in Russian Army. Oh well. King and Country, ya know? |
