This unit was color and used the same games the main system used. You didn't have to buy all new games for the TURBO EXPRESS which was very cool.

It also had a TV tuner add on that was very cool.

Mine still works but the "wall wart" power adapter doesn't work anymore so I just use batteries.


To bad they dropped this system.

I never bought one of those but this reminded me of my Sega Game Gear.... now where did I put that battery eater? :)

It was a portable turbo grafix 16 right that played the same games right ?

I still have mine, but a few pixels are now permanently colored green on the LCD.

The best color screen ever on handheld systems, though.
Even better than the Nomad.

GameBoy light is pretty cool as well, for black & white.

I never had one, but a buddy at work bought a used one about 3 years ago for $5 (Canadian!).

I borrowed it a week ago and for some games it is still pretty awesome. The only real flaw is that the games were designed to be played on your television set, so any in-game text is <i>REAL</i> small. Other than that it was a pretty decent system for it's time.

I prefer my Lynx, though. It had a larger, brighter screen, all the games were designed to be played on it and you could use it left- or right-handed.

BTW, if you haven't seen a TE before, just check out <b>Enemy of the State</b>. The "device" in the movie is played by none other than the beloved Turbo Express, without any real gussying up, either. I almost busted a gut laughing at that when I saw the flick, not that there wasn't a lot more unintentional stuff to laugh at as well.

It was a great system. The picture quality was awesome, and the TV tuner worked great AND had A/V inputs!!

The TG16 gamecards were much better in a portable than they were for the stupid home system (which I never owned, BTW).
