I was looking on ebay and it looksl ike I may be able tp pick one of these up for cheap. Anyone have any first hand experience with them ?? Are they worth it or I am just wasting my cash ? I have a 19" and a 14" monitor. If the graphics look butt on the 19" I may just keep my current set-up (which is just a regular 27" tv with no s-video). Just wondering if anyone can make a recommendation either way.

The picture quality is excellent. You are basically doubling the amount of information on the screen at once since the DC has non-interlaced output through the VGA converter vs. the NTSC signal using either the composite or s-video output options. Enjoy.

I saw one at Easybuy2000, but it appears to just take an AV signal in and output a VGA signal. Is that how it's done, or should I look for one that just goes console to monitor?

Most units have a switch so you can connect the DC to a TV and a monitor at the same time. The DC should connect directly to a PC monitor using the proper cable.

It looks good for the most part, although some games with a lot of text looks a little blurry, but I play NBA2K1 constantly on mine and I really like it. I got mine for 15 at EB.

I just bought one too from EB for $15. It's a blue clear one and looks kinda cool. I hooked it up to an old 15 inch monitor I had and it looks pretty good. Colors are more vibrant and the graphics look a tad better. However, some games have a real grainy look on my monitor, like Shenmue. The outline of objects in the game are really grainy, but that could just be the monitor I'm using. NFL 2K and NBA 2K look really good though.

every game looks from a little better to a whole lot better. if your TV sucks then it probably won't matter, but on my 36" wega, the difference is huge. i'd recommend you get one. you can always return it if you're not happy.
