I finally got to watch this last night (power outtage last year when it originally aired) and I thought it was great. It really pulled together a lot of what made the series great and just as emotional as the series itself.

And today DVD File reports that the movie will be released on DVD in a couple months. Good stuff!

Now that is good news! I was a huge fan of Homicide, especially in the early years. When I saw the movie, it was such a perfect way to end the series. Don't get me wrong though, I was upset at some of the things that happened in the movie, but that was only because we learned to care about the characters over the years. And it was nice to see some of the old cast back again. Even the dead ones!

I'll be pre-ordering the dvd asap.

I can't wait to get the DVD. I just hope Tom Fontana tries to get the rest of the series out also. What an amazing series.

I loved how Bayliss kept trying to confess to Pembleton. Now if only the series would come out on DVD. I watch it every night on CourtTV but it is on so late.

I thought the DVD was the Pilot. Are you saying that it is the series finale?

DVD File's blurb said it was the pilot, but in the text of the actual article it said it was the movie. "Homicide: The Movie" was the actual name of the two hour movie. Runtime is 89 minutes which is the run time of a TV movie (could be the first two episodes, but they weren't a two part story arc)

did Pembleton take Bayliss in or not???? we'll never know!
Of course Munch killed Steve Buscemi and got away with it. Now he's wisecracking in the SVU!

In my mind it was pretty clear at the end of The Movie that he had turned him in.

Pembleton even made a comment about catching a couple of killers tonight (in the movie). And I do not think Munch killed Buscemi I always thought it was Bayliss.

I used to post on a Homicide forum. Movie writer Eric Overmyer showed up there for a few days and confirmed to us that, yes, Pembleton turned Bayliss in, and he was surprised that there was any confusion about it.

As for Bayliss killing Buscemi, I really can't see him confronting Munch about it the way he did in the final episode if that were the case.
