where i live they show re-runs of M*A*S*H every night around 2 am and every damn night i sit up late to watch it even if i have to get up early the day after. quite simply the best damn tv-series ever! it's funny, hilarious but also features thoughtful episodes about the horrors of war and things like that which makes you think.
does anyone agree? |
If not the best....it is pretty damn close!!! The funniest episodes in my opinion are the ones with Frank Burns!!! And also the episodes with the infamous Col. Flagg!!! :D
|
I really like this show they have it on FX for 2 hours each day, and once in awhile I watch it at 1:30am locally.
|
In my humble opinion, I prefer the:
Mike Farrell Harry Morgan David Ogden Stiers cast WAY OVER: Wayne Rogers McLean Stevenson Larry Linville Don't you think that MASH really got good when it took off the laugh track and became sort of a drama as well? |
M*A*S*H is number one in my book
I love most of the episodes. Never know if I'm going to laugh or cry. Its on 6-8am and 7p-8pm on FX in my area. I catch as many episodes as I can. And I too prefer the later cast. |
i prefer the later cast as well.
i like it's mix of comedy and drama, some episodes are just pure fun and some are very dramatic/tragic. i seriously shed a tear when i saw the final episode. trivia #1: the replacement cast was on the show longer than the ones they had replaced. trivia #2: the tv-series lasted three times longer than the actual korean war. |
Maybe older people prefer this but I for one would have to go with Cheers.
|
FX: All M*A*S*H All the Time. I don't think I've ever seen that channel when it wasn't playing M*A*S*H.
|
M*A*S*H is awfully good, but I might put Barney Miller ahead of it. Those were classic.

Absolutely one of my top five of all time. Toward the end of it's run it did get a little stale, replacing comedy with silly puns. "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" is the best finale of any show I have ever seen.
Trivia: Alan Alda is the only cast member to appear in every episode. |
By the way, FX is playing a M*A*S*H marathon followed by an airing of the series finale "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" at 5.
JoeC...great show |
It's certainly one of the all time greats. Embarassingly, a search will also reveal how many people on this Forum absolutely hate it with a passion.

I read the book, didn't get it. Rented the movie, also didn't get it. I didn't bother with the series.
It was way before my time, so I'm not going to trash it or anything. |
It is up there with Law & Order (original) and The Simpsons as the only shows I catch regularly in re-runs.
|
I forget - how many seasons will we be buying?
And when did cast changes occur? |

Re: M*A*S*H - possibly the greatest tv-series ever.
Bumping an old thread, I just finished up a MASH binge, the first time I have seen many of these episodes since their original air date (or at least since the late 1980s when I stopped watching the re-runs)
What a great show, it is interesting watching it being in my mid-40s compared to a teenager, much more deep than I remembered The first few seasons were tough to get through, the show was much better with the Season 4 cast and it maintained a solid level all the way to the end. I "found" a copy of AfterMash ...really bad, I cannot believe it lasted as long as it did |
Re: M*A*S*H - possibly the greatest tv-series ever.
I honestly don't think I've ever watched a full episode. I've seen bits and pieces of it but the series was just never really anything I found myself drawn to. I like a lot of classic sitcoms and shows so it isn't the age necessarily.

I haven't seen an episode in years, but I was always of the opinion that the original cast episodes were the only ones worth my time. No Frank Burns = no sale.
Also, I have seen the majority of each episode at least 3-6+ times each, so I am definitely a fan of the show. |
Re: M*A*S*H - possibly the greatest tv-series ever.
It's my nightly viewing now 10 mins at a time
First klinger sighting is episode 4 This show is great |
Re: M*A*S*H - possibly the greatest tv-series ever.
M*A*S*H is a great show no doubt. Started rewatching it from S4 after Henry and Trapper exited. Like Potter as C/O better than Blake.
More Trivia: Gary Burghoff was the only cast member to appear in both Altman's M*A*S*H and the TV show as corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly in both. |
