Re: BattleBots -- Series Discussion Thread

I'm concerned about the future of Battlebots on the Discovery channel. BB is the only show I watch on Discovery, but I understand they are moving a lot of the shows currently airing on their cable channels and making new episodes available only on their Discovery+ app. This is infuriating a lot of fans and leading me to wonder whether the folks at Discovery are a bunch of slimebags who could do anything. There's a lot of discussion about this on the Xfinity discussion forums, where some folks are (mistakenly, I believe) blaming Xfinity for losing the shows that they follow. If you're interested, here's the link.

and it's not just Battlebots. Food Network broadcast a two-hour of Restaurant Impossible as a Discovery+ preview, which suggests this long-running series will only be available there.

I'm going to go the other direction ... The launch of Discovery+ and all the channels that come with it may have finally been the straw that broke my wife's back. I may actually be able to shed an extra $105 off our cable bill and go to just internet now that we can get these on streaming.

Yeah that awesome. The opening match on the last episode was really good too - neither bot would die.

Now that the regular season is over, it appears that Discovery will fill the slot with the "Battlebots: Bounty Hunters" series that originally ran on Discovery +.

Thanks for the heads up.

Battlebots started up again tonight (Thursday). I noticed that the first showing (which I can't record) is slotted for three hours on my DVR and the second show (which I will record) is two hours. The same next week. Anybody know the difference?

They tacked on half an episode (one of two hours) of a Bounty Hunters episode rerun. No idea why it was merged as a third hour of the new episode in the program guide.

I sure hope they don’t continue piiiggy backing those episodes on the end all season.
I don’t have room for those 3 hour blocks for a show that can be watched in about 30 minutes normally

Discovery routinely did that with the first weekly airings of Deadliest Catch last season, tacking on an hour-long 'Bloodlines' (a spin-off of sorts) episode. I'm sure they'll do the same here.
