The White Lotus - Season 4 Thread

‘The White Lotus’ Headed To France For Season 4 – The Dish

By Nellie Andreeva, Justin Kroll
September 4, 2025 2:08pmEXCLUSIVE: Welcome to Le Lotus Blanc — The White Lotus creator Mike White and HBO have zeroed in on France as location for the upcoming fourth season of the hit murder mystery comedy-drama anthology, sources tell Deadline.

A rep for HBO declined comment.

The White Lotus works exclusively with the Four Seasons hotel chain which double as White Lotus hotels. Speculation has focused on the famous Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, perched on the tip of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula on the French Riviera, which has strong Hollywood ties with its proximity to Cannes. However, sources stress that no hotel has been locked in, noting that the show tends to use multiple resorts in one season, as was the case with the Thailand-based Season 3. It used the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui as its main setting, along with three other non-Four Seasons hotels.

The three other Four Seasons hotels in France are the Megève in the French Alps and Hotel George V, located in the heart of Paris.

The Cap-Ferrat is the closest to the settings of the first three seasons of
The White Lotus which took place at luxury resorts by the beach in Hawaii (S1), Italy (S2) and Thailand (S3).

“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” White said at the end of Season 3.

It is unclear whether he still feels that way but in any case, the Cap-Ferrat is not directly on the beach.

Megève could provide a change of scenery. It may be too much of a change, especially if production starts before May next year, which is possible. That is because the location is a popular ski resort during the winter.

The White Lotus cast members have revealed that White hates the cold and has previously nixed suggestions about ski resort locations.

As for Paris, that would also be a dramatic change, bringing The White Lotus to an urban environment (albeit a very picturesque and romantic one.)

Deadline reported earlier this year that the acclaimed series, whose third season received 23 Emmy nominations, was considering a Four Seasons hotel in Europe for Season 4.

White and HBO executives were originally scheduled to scout locations in early spring; the scouting trip was subsequently pushed to summer as White needed a little breather after Season 3.

We are now up to 4 official cast members, but only one I’ve ever heard of. Steve Coogan and Caleb Jonte Edward’s have just been announced to join previously-announced cast members Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka. I like Coogan, he’s always interesting and fun, but I hope they start naming some big names soon.

I like Ludwig. He had a pretty big role on Vikings playing Bjorn Ironside.

AJ Mickalka was on The Goldbergs and was the star of the spinoff that didn’t last very long.

Chloe Bennet showing up in White Lotus was not on my bingo card.

Me, too, and I'm glad to see her in the lineup here. I'm surprised that she hasn't really done much noteworthy since AoS, other than Interior Chinatown and a voice role in a couple of episodes of Invincible.

She had a good part on Dave

Kumali is a huge deterrent for me; he is so smug and off-putting.. I liked him for the first few seasons of Silicon Valley, but since then, he has gotten a bit tiresome.

I've loved Kumail in everything he's done, but definitely feels like an odd choice here.

Remember this is reported to be a film festival. He could basically be playing himself here.

i think he can pull it off. he was fantastic in that movie that was based on his own true story, i believe, The Big Sick. i like him, from his small bits on Only Murders in the... to just about anything he does. i think drama would be a good fit, plus the casting on all the seasons have been impeccable and though some may seem strange or out of character they ALL worked great in the show.

They had to seasons with Jennifer Coolidge, who can't act for shit and somehow made it work, so I guess Nanjiani will be fine.

 Completely fair. The show also helped give rise to Sydney Sweeney who also is a questionable actress.

Though I wasn't questioning his acting chops, I was more questioning his style of broad humor vs. The White Lotus style of dry and dark humor.

Didn't Stifler's Mom win two Emmys for her role in the series?

I think she did, which show's how good Mike White's writing and directing really is.

'Did not align'...love the careful word choice. You can almost smell the stench of a publicist and a legal team off that one...

In other words, someone didn't get along with someone else and the net result is she didn't feel it worth the money.

Decker 04-25-26 10:06 AM

Re: The White Lotus - Season 4 Thread

It's wild -- they're currently shooting around it. Yes, the stories are running parallel, but a major player this season, like Parker Posey - level importance is not only not present for the shoot right now, but the part is getting rewritten on the fly to accommodate whomever Mike White eventually decides on.
Do you even get that level of a star to replace HBC when whoever it is will clearly be under the microscope as a known replacement/ second choice in the high-profile series?

Makes me wonder what happened on the set that caused her to be fired.

I checked CDAN for blind items and found this:

They could always pull a Tim Burton and replace HBC with Eva Green.
