In Aliens isn't kitty the only one who shows they aren't afraid of the xenomorph and hisses right back at it in its face? Everyone thinks dogs are the best but kitty is badass!

I named one of my previous generation of cats Jonesy. She took no shit either!

Finished both episodes last night. Really solid start. I liked the second episode a little more because it had more of the horror elements of Alien. There was a lot of set up in the 1st episode.

Most of the cast seems to unknown aside from Olyphant. And I kind of like that. Wendy is an interesting protagonist. She was a dying child and now they imported her essence into an adult body like those other kids.

Very high quality production. I could see how this took a long time to make.

If you are watching on Hulu there are post-episode podcasts which I found enjoyable. Not so much episode recaps, but general discussions of the show, characters and world creation. There are spoilers, so watch the episodes first.

Yikes, I watched about half of the first episode and found it incredibly boring. The franchise is already established. Give me non-stop aliens! None of this hybrid, cyborg character development that drags the storyline to a crawl.

Deleted from my watchlist.

In the original movie the xenomorph doesn't show up until about an hour into the film and has fairly little actual screentime. The shark in Jaws likewise only appears for very short amounts of time. Movies that are just nonstop monsters attacking tend to not be very interesting, in my opinion. It's the human characters that draw you in and make you invested in the story. "Bruce" may be the star of Jaws, but the movie is great because of Chief Brody and Hooper and Quint.

The production values were outstanding, but overall I found it sort of "meh". Maybe because the franchise has been ran into the ground already. But this does provide context for why the Nostromo was send to LV-426. I just found the characters sort of bland. Will probably keep up with it, since there's not much else in this vein coming out.

How incredibly sad that one gives 30 minutes of an eight episode season to say that it sucks and drop it. You barely made it through the credits. Oh well.

I know you have very little patience with a new series, but honestly you didn’t give this a fair shot at all. The second episode has a lot of great stuff and it’s a short season. This isn’t a 22 to 24 episode commitment.

I love how this plays on Hulu simultaneously to FX. That way on Hulu, no commercials!

Props for using Metallica in 3rd ep. This is good tv.

This is the opposite of my reaction. Interesting. I would definitely NOT call it boring. In fact, I think it's overcompensating in the direction of AVOIDING being boring, and so it comes across as jerky and chaotic when it should be more deliberate and weighty.

To me, so far, the tone is completely off. Fan service is great to a certain extent, and this show gets that right, from the sets to the sounds, but this series gets the basics of the tone wrong. The xenomorph doesn't act or move right. Too quick and almost comical. slaughtering some and sparing some for no reason, in an instant. Character interactions are silly or don't make sense. There are weird logic leaps. Plot developments are clunky as hell, with none of the juicy, atmospheric buildup that a series like this SHOULD allow. Even the choices for the end credit music are jarring and mood-killing. I'll try for a few more episodes, but to me, this is a disappointment, especially coming from Hawley, whom I really admire.

Have only watched the first episode but loved it. Nothing really new to add except glad to hear the adrenaline-driven music continues into the 3rd episode. Was grinning ear to ear when Black Sabbath closed episode 1.

I came home last night and my wife was "binging" the 3 eps out now. She was really enjoyed it. She knew nothing about this new series and ran across it by chance. I knew about it, and have heard nothing but good about it thus far, but hadn't watched yet.

Some great looking stuff and some really stupid plot shit.

Not what I have come to expect from Hawley.

Loved recapturing the look of Alien … sad that they didn’t stay in that world.

The creature designs are lazy and laughable. The xenomorph largely suffers from the “man in a rubber suit” look and the way it moves.

The characters are largely insufferable so far.

Really didn’t need the real world creeping in with corporate take overs and Boy Douchebag being a lead. “I’m so smart that I don’t know what anybody is doing.”

We really need more montages.

Re: Alien: Earth -- (S1E01, E02) -- "Neverland / Mr. October" -- 8/12/25

I rewatched episode 2 and the more I’m realizing how irrelevant it makes Aliens. For example the stun gun. If Wayland Corp knew about this why arm marines with just the pulse rifles. Unless of course that was a fools errand set up to fail. Which it basically was. Still feels like a plot hole to me though…unless they address it later on.

That is one place that I am giving a little bit of leeway in some places, and none in others.

I see it this way: on a long-haul ship that has been in space for damn near a century, the tech is going to be far behind what is available on-planet. CRT monitors on the ship? OK. CRT monitors on the planet where they are building synthetic human beings and transferring human consciousness? F$%K NO.

Alien stun gun and spray balloon luggage maker from the guy who was on the ship for the last 65+ years? Nope. Doesn't work in this world. Not just the stun gun vs. pulse rifles, but the whole scene where they confiscate ammunition and have to resort to harsh language.

I was a little meh on the first episode but loved the second. Give me more like that please. Bloody Massacre at an Eyes Wide Shut party? Yes please! I like Wendy and Joe a lot. And anything and everything Timothy Olyphant ever does. I was a little weirded out by the kid synthetic commandos in E1, but now? I'm in for the long haul now
