The big reveal sets up Dexter to either solve the big crime or setup his next murder. Or both, most likely.

Logically it makes no sense. Structurally for the timeline tho, fits pretty well. The abducting and killing your own kid makes no sense. But for the timeline of the show this season probably ends with him being taken out and Matthews being put in as lieutenant. Otherwise don't understand why Matthews has been absent.

I guess what the show was going for is a desperate man trying to save his marriage by being the one to find and save his son to impress his ex-wife? The last 3 episodes will hopefully give a motive along those lines. Hope it doesn't end up being he's just a psycho that snapped and wants to hurt his ex-wife by killing his own kid.

Dexter dumping the body the way he did seemed pretty careless to me. Seems like it could have been noticed when the truck was emptied out. Granted Miami is huge so that landfill is huge and likely wouldn’t be found once it was there but it still seemed like a risky way to get rid of it.

I also find it a bit odd how Dexter seems to draw some weird inspiration from other serial killers when his whole thing is only killing those who deserve it.

I would think some in Miami Metro would find Dexter a bit suspicious. The evidence is ate on his watch and then he talks Angel into not investigating further. Seems like it might draw some red flags.

The reveal with the captain is also odd. Revenge on his ex-wife and her fiancé or maybe as mentioned trying to play the hero and win her back. Curious how the rest of the season will play out.
