1- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
2- The Simpsons
3- Parks and Rec
4- Larry Sanders
5- NewsRadio

Honorable mention to The Office (US). Season 2 is probably my favorite overall sitcom season. Wish it didn't have such a sharp drop off in the back half of the series.

I loved the first 10 or so seasons of The Simpsons but it went downhill so fast that I haven’t watched it in 15 years or so.

Yeah I thought about that especially after commenting on The Office but there’s like 8 seasons of the Simpsons that are near perfect. Thats longer than most other shows were listings full runs.

My favorites ...

1. Fawlty Towers
2. Trailer Park Boys
3. All In The Family
4. Three's Company
5. WKRP In Cincinnati

Spoiler:
6. Cheers
7. Taxi
8. Night Court
9. Welcome Back, Kotter
10. Just Shoot Me!

Note: I don't consider animated shows to be situation comedies.

I was conflicted. I almost put it in my top 5. 10 seasons is as good a run as most entire series’. I ended up leaving it off since it has been so long since I’ve watched it and with the majority of the seasons not being worthy, I left it off. I wanted to mention my love of the early seasons though.

Almost more than the lists themselves I'm kinda curious about the criteria used. Nostalgia/how great it was when you first watched it? Whether it holds up to a repeat viewing today? How classic it is in establishing sitcom tropes? If we're talking pure rewatchability I think my list would be heavily skewed towards more modern comedies, for instance.

Not in any particular order as it would be tough for me to decide.
1) The Big Bang Theory
2) Cheers
3) Three's Company
4) Gilligan's Island
5) Are You Being Served?

I had a hard time picking the fifth one and could possibly change it with something else, but that was the last one that came to mind right now.

My list contains only of shows I've watched over and over again, which I watched recently and still make me laugh, just talking about them.

Re: Top 5 sitcoms of all-time? (preferably in order)

For me 1 and 2 (Always Sunny and Simpsons) are by far my most watched shows ever and on a per episode basis have given me more laughs than any other show. I went with Sunny as 1 because almost all of my Simpsons watching is behind me. Between 1989 and 1996 or so I would video record and rewatch every episode multiple times. Since then I’ve watched through the first 12 seasons at least once when they came out on dvd, once through with my son 5 years or so again, and will go through them once more with my daughter when she’s about 15 and can appreciate them more fully. That might be it for the Simpsons and me. Whenever they have a last episode I’ll watch it but almost because i feel
obligated to.

I don’t know if ive watched it’s always sunny more or less than the simpsons as of today but ive watched it a LOT consistently since someone turned me onto it between seasons 2 and 3 and I feel like Ill continue to watch it a lot even if it ends in 2 seasons, when its contract is up, for the rest of my life.

Numbers 3-5 could have been reordered or swapped out for 5-10 other shows if I was asked on a different day. 3-5 are the ones of that group of 10 or so sitcoms i love that i most want to rewatch currently which is what got them those spots.
