Re: Star Wars: The Acolyte (S1E05) - “Night” - 6/24/24

I thought this episode was overall great but hard to watch with my 12 year old daughter who really took a liking to Jecki. oops. I thought the fight scenes were great. Still would have liked to have seen a Jedi Wookie join in the foray but alas that wasn't in the cards. I too was about to be livid when Mae was first waking up and the sounds of the battle were going on. I thought they were going to pull another Wookie Jedi death.

As shocking as all the deaths were it would have been even more shocking if we had gotten to know the characters more. They did a decent job with Yord but we didn't really get to know Jecki well enough or any of the other Jedi at all. That's one of the things I hate about these extended movies that are chopped up as TV episodes. The editing is terrible, the pacing is terrible and there is almost zero character development if you're not one of the few main characters. Even though there's plenty of time to have lots of character development.

But overall I'm still enjoying this show. Yeah it's probably not the best Star Wars series ever but I'm still enjoying it so far and will reserve final judgement until the season/series(?) has ended.
