Those were some cameos I didn't expect...

My main question is, how are they going to top this next season?

Uh-oh. Being nice to each other! Helping! Tolerance! Emotions!

Sounds like X-men gone WOKE!

It's said that Age of Apocalypse actually came out of the idea from the episodes "One Man's Worth" (which again are worth rewatching to tie into this series). I always thought it was the other way around, that One Man's Worth was like a budget adaptation of AoA, but because of how long animation takes, the cartoon just happened to come out after the crossover. Bob Harras was actually inspired by their idea that Xavier's death would cause this alternate future.

Eric: We worked for five years to come up with these stories and maybe a couple dozen of them really were exactly the kind of story we wanted to tell. And the other two thirds, we do the best we can, they’re good. Some of them are a little weaker, but there were at least a dozen, were we said: “We got it right this time.” I discovered “One Man’s Worth” was one because Bob Harris, our advisor at Marvel, and who was in charge of all the X-Men books, said that a little over a year later, Marvel built the Age of Apocalypse series off of that idea. We’d taken all these cool stories from them and used them in our show. The fact that they would take a story we came up with for the show that was original to the show and, you know, 18 months later, build this massive series of six or seven different books out of it was just amazing.
I was thinking Krakoa, though this arc basically covered parts of both Morrison's New X-men and parts of Krakoa, as well as taking the "Cyclops was Right" and adapting it. I thought surely that was where they were going after Cyclops and then Beast bristled at the model minority stuff and tolerance.

I think so far Nightcrawler is really stealing the show. Loved the eulogy for
Spoiler:
Gambit
and the fight with him and Wolverine vs. the prime sentinels was awesome. Showing how someone experiences his teleportation was a nice touch

I dunno, Rogue has had her moments, including a moveset right out of Marvel vs. Capcom.

Did we ever find out what DeMayo did? I hope it wasn’t too awful and maybe he could get rehired like Gunn. Anyway, this show will be a tough act to follow for whoever does the live action movies.

The live action films won't even come close to what they're doing with Xmen ' 97.

It's a fool's errand at this point.

Wow, they pulled from like 4-5 different story arcs for this one episode. Was insane!

Re: Marvel Animationís X-Men Ď97 (Disney+) - premieres 3/20/24

I was wondering the whole time "why the hell would you send Wolverine on the team against Magneto" but I guess plot reasons it is. Now how far do they go with this... does Wolverine eventually lose his nose?

Also screw you Xavier, Magneto is right. In the beginning I felt like I missed an episode where Magneto saved all of them from a freaking legion of sentinels and then they somehow neutralized the sentinel threat and decided to focus on Magneto. Does Magneto even know the Earth is dying? It's not like in the next few hours he recruited every mutant he could to save them.

On a side note, thanks for ensuring the world is destroyed, Wolverine. Great job. Glad we brought you.

But otherwise, just inject this series into my veins.

I'm guessing Xavier will complete the process to fully hijack Magneto and save the Earth.

Right, they have to resolve this somehow, but he's going for the throat from the beginning (which is why Rogue stops him initially)

He's written the first two season so we have at least one more to look forward too. The way he's ripping through story lines they might not have anything left by the end of season two. They could have even used him for the movie division. Surprised that nothing has leaked about why they fired him.

Maybe his overall vision for the series was different from what Disney/ Marvel had planned or their plans for live-action.

Also , the approach to characters/ cameos is quite different from the WBs Bat- Embargo during the JL/ JLU series. It seems nothing is off-limts with '97 despite whatever impact it could have on the MCU.

I don't know. I still have faith (as misplaced as that may be) that they know what they're doing and that the events of '97 will be central to this phase of the MCU. Even What If was really central and introduced a lot of concepts that carried on throughout the MCU so I think they know that they are doing. I think connecting the disparate properties has never been their weak-point. In fact the argument is usually that they focus too much on the connectivity and lose the movie itself because of it. So I still think '97 will be pivotal going forward.

They had cartoons that mimicked the MCU characters (like the cartoon GotG, or that second Avengers cartoon) and they didn't care if people got them confused. And back in the day both Spider-man and X-men had cameos galore, so I don't think they're that concerned like WB was back in the day when they made the dumb decision to say "no Bat villains in JL" or whatever.

This version of X-men is great and I don't mind them being part of the multiverse but to have these characters as the mainline X-men in the MCU? No thanks. Not sure if that's what's being implied but yeah, keep them in cartoons and come up with something different for their MCU debut.

Awesome season finale. There is a small mid-credit scene foreshadowing season 2.

i thought the finale was the worst of the this series. just boring. nothing much really happened imo. good series overall though.
