Just watched the newest episode and it's one of the best of the season and finally the one I've been waiting for. Oh, that final smash cut to the credits had me howling. lol

Ok with that episode, I'm now clear on exactly where in time it is.
Dammit this show for making me care about the Lakers. "Coach on 3" gave me the chills.

Jason Segel is a way better actor than I ever gave him credit for. The way he presents Westhead's insecurities was just fantastic. When he tells the story of all the obstacles he had to overcome it's obvious, he has to convince not only Pat, but himself as well. One of the best episodes of the show.

Jeanie Buss supports Winning Time. If that isn’t a vote of confidence from someone in the Lakers, I don’t know what is.

Now instead of just supporting it, she’s actually doing promo work for the series :

Hadley Robinson is great as Jeanie.
I fell a little behind, but I watched episodes 3 and 4 last night. I will get caught up with 5 today.
The Larry Bird episode was really good. I've also enjoyed how they portrayed the Magic and Westhead controversy. It was heavily detailed in the book how they had that falling out. Quincy Isaiah is IMO the acting find of the last 2 years. He's like the embodiment of Magic Johnson.
I am a little bummed that this season is truncated and there are only 2 more episodes left.

Episode 5 was really awesome. Adrien Brody really shined as Pat Riley.
The really confusing press conference where Buss introduced West as Offensive coach and Riley as coach was covered in the book and really did happen.
Timeline-wise, they are in the 81-82 season where they re-matched against the 76ers and beat them again. They have to jam through 2 more seasons in 2 episodes to pick up in the 1984 Finals that was shown in episode 1. That was their 1st meeting with the C's in the Finals. That's a lot of ground to cover.

I just caught up with last week’s episode. I’ve been pretty down on this season because it just seemed to be spinning its wheels with Magic and Westhead drama, but this was by far the best episode of the season. Loved Riley’s blow-up before the game.
I know it’s way over the top, but I love Jason Clarke’s Jerry Weat portrayal

Yup another great episode
DeVaughn Nixon getting down with….his mom
Mr. Jeanie Buss guest stars
Next week’s episode could be series finale

That was a really good episode. That final sequence with Auerbach and Buss made the hairs on my neck stick up.
Fuck Boston!
Jay Mohr as Kareem’s agent.
They cannot end this show on what is about to happen. They need Bird vs Magic 2.
The woman who played a young Debbie Allen really looked like her. That had to be weird for DeVaughn Nixon

Oh Man you all....
I'm going to take a step back...
I was born and bred LA.
I bleed Dodger Blue
I am a KING through and through (will stake my finest spirits when the kings are in the finals)
I am 1984 olympics, the Rose Bowl, the Hollywood Bowl, the 80's club scene (roxy/whiskey/gazzari/troubador/als bar/crush groove/palladium). I am all about Lasorda, Gibson, Russel-Lopes-Garvey, I feasted on Garagiola/Enberg/Hearn/Miller/SCULLY that I FEASTED almost all of my life. Not to mention, Jim Murray as my writer.
But I would love to see the story (the skullduggery) the menacing story of the Boston Celtics during that time. Sure it wasn't as high profile.....Glamorous....but a corollary story should be told (even if it is as boring as I think it is).
Just a thought....

I posted an Instagram story of the final scene of episode 6 with the Beat LA, Fuck Boston. Someone who I worked with years ago followed me last week. He was one of my followers who saw the story and quickly unfollowed me

I don't know if it's been this way through the first season but I clearly noticed that the on court parts had Quincy's face digitally added to another person's body. I didn't notice it for any other players during on court scenes.
