43 minutes.
About 30 minutes of great stuff.
The stuff on Coruscant brings things to a slow crawl, but as soon as we get to Navarro, stuff gets good.
Finally, they can stop spinning their wheels and start the reclamation of Mandalore.
This is the (only) way.
Oh, and we have a cameo from

I think there's also a cameo of a character from Rebels.

No, his head... I didn't remember him being so blue-ish. But I am ecstatic that it's him!
I am glad that Zeb is back... one more hint that we might see Grand Admiral Thrawn before the end of the season... I hope.

This season is all over the place. No real story. Just isolated episodes with bits and pieces just thrown in at odd times. The Empire stuff two eps ago. The X-wing stuff at end of The Pirate. There’s no cohesiveness or reason to root for anyone. It goes from one place to another without rhyme or reason. Something S1 & 2 never did. I dunno. Just not loving most of the stuff.

So, people jumped all over Boba Fett when it seemed that the show was about anything but Boba, seems like this season of Mando is doing it. Bo Katan is now to unite all Mandalorians, you have Moff Gideon out there somewhere and one of his underlings seems to be still working for him inside the rebellion. So... how does Mando fit in all this? I don't even remember what his original "mission" was before was anymore (aside from rebuilding IG-11). I mean, I enjoyed the action, but it seems pointless from a story arc standpoint for Mando. It's like he's Forrest Gumping him way throught the season, hanging out while stuff not of his doing is happening all around.

Much better than I was expecting. It doesn't have the same level of focus that the first two seasons had, but they're settling in for multiple storylines over a long term.
Glad to see Seaweed the Pirate is toast. Terrible character. But the pirate invasion and fight was handled pretty well. I thought it was funny when they Mandalorians said they were boxed in, though. I guess they forgot they were wearing jet packs.
the stuff with the X-wing pilot was good too. I wonder if this storyline was always planned for this show or if they're adding elements from the aborted Rangers of the New Republic show to further the larger storyline.
Also, I thought the scene with Elia Kane should have been the first time we saw her, with "The Convert" filling in the details. Would have made all that less jarring and give it some degree of importance.
Lastly, I wonder if Katee Sackhoff has a stipulation in her contract that she doesn't have to wear the helmet all the time like the rest of them.

Having lots of fun with this season. Mando is just puttering around either making new friends or running into people that want to beat his ass.

Was that a Gorn on the machine gun?
I'm enjoying the season as a slight change to the previous seasons. It seems like every show these days has to have a single plot for the entire season, and these "singles" are a nice diversion while still holding to the overall Star Wars world.

This could be about that sword. Moff Gideon wants it back. He somehow wins it back from Mando, then Bo Katan wins it from him, then she uses it to somehow unite the Mandalorians.

Re: The Mandalorian (S3E05) - “Chapter 21: The Pirate” - 3/29/23
I guess I'm in the minority, but this season has been a big miss for me so far. We're over halfway through and, while there have been some fun individual scenes, nothing in the plot has captured my interest at all. I'd even go so far as to say it's made me care less about the characters I grew to really like during the first two seasons. The quality of the writing and direction seem to have taken a big step down.
The siege and liberation of Neverro had a bunch of really bad moments. The people on the ground miraculously being able to see the gun doors opening with their naked eyes. The laughably inane 'we're just going to randomly fire into your city' plan of the homemade-cosplay pirate. The way the victims in the explosion scenes looked like they were jumping around in a stage musical rather than actually getting thrown around by explosions. The armorer loudly taking out a room of bad guys one at a time with no one realizing what was happening directly behind them until it happened to them. The whole population of the city seeming to be around 50 people. (Seriously, I think there were more people/aliens crammed into the Mos Eisley cantina in Star Wars than there were living in the whole of Neverro in this episode.)
I'm tired of Mandolorian culture. There's no real mystique to it at this point and what we've learned is pretty hokey. Also, their reputation as fierce warriors seems, at best, to be wildly out of date. And there only seem to be dozens of them left in a universe of trillions of sentient beings, but somehow they're still the only ones who use beskar and are extremely well known, to the point where a Republic official who hears the word beskar immediately assumes Mandolorians are involved. Speaking of which, our intrepid X-wing fighter pilot stumbling across the attacked prison transport played our like the universe's most unlikely coincidence.
A lot of my complaints sound nitpicky taken individually, but the season has felt like a constant bombardment of small-to-medium missteps and it's rapidly killing my interest in the show. At this point, I'd probably give it about a 4/10, with Andor S1 being a solid 9, the first two seasons of The Mandolorian being 7 or 8, Obi Wan Kenobi being a 5 and The Book of Boba Fett being a 2 or 3. I will likely still check out Ahsoka and whatever other live action series they spin off of The Mandolorian, but my expectations for them are very low at this point.

Cool episode. I was hoping for a higher HALO-type jump from the drop ship and a stealth night mission. But other than that, very enjoyable episode.

Enjoyed it. Solid action-packed episode, too, Looks like there's a traitor amongst the Mandalorians if that last scene is any indication. Oh, and cool throwback to the probe using the scanner just like in Aliens.

Some cool scenes, but this season seems like it's just a launching point for other shows.
Did we really need to go back to Coruscant again?
I'll be glad once Andor is back.
