Every episode is the "best SNL of the season" for somebody, I know AVClub gave the Pedro Pascal episode a C+ and said it struggled for laughs while I found it to more or less be the best so far this season

The new(ish) reviewer at AV Club judges everything through a woke lens, imo.

Looks like Colin Farrell was not a fan of being lampooned as an unintelligible drunk in the cold open. He made a remark about it on the Oscars.

I didn't get that sense reading the reviews, just that there are some people that thought Bowen Yang as the titanic glacier was hysterical and those of us that uhm didn't

It wasn't AV Club. I'll have to see if I can find it. I didn't actually read it, since I hadn't seen the episode yet. It did get my hopes up though, only to be let down by the average to below average episode.

As for the Farrell joke, they made him unintelligible before he was drunk. That said, the "Irish accents are hard to understand" premise was unimaginative and low hanging fruit. They can make better jokes that that.

You and me both, brother. That wasn't funny to me at all, but it's all anyone talked about for way too long.

Pedro Pascal, Aubrey Plaza, and Travis Kelce have hosted the best outings so far this season.

Since they implied that he was going to get drunk, I stand by my characterization of how he was portrayed.
