Really? I picked two players on the same tribe again? Is that information that is readily available before the draft?

Short answer, yes.

CBS has released the opening minutes of the beach welcome where you can see the tribes and they get their buffs and names: Tika, Ratu, and Soka.

Wikipedia has the tribe listings on their Season 44 wiki page.

I apologize for missing it. I know I joked about the quack play earlier, but I really do enjoy targeting a player and landing them, even though they rarely win.

I got a last-minute invite to see Springsteen, and about halfway through the concert (around 9 p.m. PT) I realized I had missed the draft. The Boss was good, though.

Best excuse for missing the draft. EVER!

Any information legitimately released in advance of the season in the form of teaser trailers, player profiles and other hype is fair use before the draft. Hopefully Inside Survivor isn’t releasing outcomes before the show airs.

CBS has been broadcasting a teaser that shows a contestant falling from a rock. Will there be a medical evacuation this season or was it a diversion? we will have to wait and see.

I searched and found that -after- it was offered here. How is it a spoiler if it's saying that was already posted here in this thread by mods? I thought the rule once it's posted in this thread you can talk about it. When Decker asked about it I searched "Survivor 43 tribes" and that's one of the links at the top of the page I grabbed randomly. I was showing him that it was available as early as December (I myself never pay attention to tribes). I skimmed the article (after the draft was over and Decker asked the question, which is when I searched for it) to make sure it only talked about tribes which we already knew here in case someone went hunting for it.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

Yeah it's on me to not check then. It's just weird that for the last two seasons I accidently picked two players from the same tribe.
Of course technically it's no or more likely that you'll pick the winner if you happen to select two players from the same tribe, but it ratchets up the anxiety if that tribe loses in a couple of early challenges. I would have rather spread out my guesses.

But maybe next season we can post who will be in which tribe before the Draft, if that is considered common knowledge?

In full disclose, I didn't look up the tribes until after the draft, so I had no idea going in who was on what tribe. Since I had time to build the graphic last night, I visited CBS and saw the Sneak Peek and when I saw the tribes divided up, then I headed to the Survivor 44 Wikipedia page to see the names.

In the future, I'll wait until the end of the first episode to post the graphic.

You still might be OK if there’s an early mixup, contraction to two tribes or a full merge.

Your idea about posting the tribes up front has merit. I will consider that.

Also, I don’t consider it to be a spoiler unless a result or a twist is posted before the show airs in the Eastern time zone.

IIRC, I may have posted the tribes in some seasons before. I’ll have to check.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

OK, we had seasons where the gimmicks led to my posting the game thread with the tribes already identified. This was true for Davids vs Goliaths, Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers, Millennials vs Gen X, etc.

In the future I will try to post the tribes at the start of the season.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

I agree that it’s preferable not to have players on the same tribe, but it probably wouldn’t affect my strategy unless I was picking from a handful of players after the draft was over. Plus it only affects a few of us anyway.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

I also remember a season when the tribes were chosen like a school yard pick ‘em, so the tribes weren’t known until the episode aired. A season like that would mean that it would be a spoiler to post the tribes. I sure hope they don’t do that again.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

Just a silly observation to change the subject, but of the 18 survivors playing this season, all but two have a name that starts with one of the first 13 letters of the alphabet (A-M).

There you go, just found it funny.

Sometimes it's beneficial to pick to players on the same tribe. If there's a majority alliance, you could have two of the final three.

Like I said, statistically, I don't think it makes a difference. But by the same token, a lottery ticket of 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 is just as likely to hit as any six random numbers. I still wouldn't pick it, though

That said, those so-called leaks have been wrong more times than they have been right.

This may be a violation of the “no spoilers” rule. I need to discuss this with my partners.

In the meantime, please delete your post.

That was brutal. Sorry lwhy? Nobody wants to see a medical evac on the show. At least you still have Frannie.

Sorry Decker, at least you still have Matt

I removed the spoiler material (and yes, I saw it last night and was tempted to click on it and succumbed, so I already knew what it said).

Some good news for Bruce...

In an unexpected happy ending to the surprisingly grim episode Probst revealed on his On Fire podcast, released as the episode ended, that Bruce will have the chance to have a proper Survivor experience after all — the host confirmed he'll invite Bruce to compete on a future season.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

The spoiler has been removed and this will be a warning to Shannon Nutt for the offending post. I am also repeating the no spoiler rule from the game rules:

Once an episode airs in the Eastern time zone, you may post anything that occurred in that episode. Violation of this rule may result in disqualification, loss of prize money and suspension from the next season’s game. However, one mild spoiler may result in a warning, but only once per player. Repeat violations may result in a life time ban from future games. The game moderators and artists will discuss enforcement on a case by case basis.

My apologies to Decker and chowderhead, I had Matt (Soka) and Matthew (Ratu) swapped.

Here are the results from last night... that was crazy.

Re: The DVDTalk Survivor Game Spring 2023 Edition

How did Kane know about Bruce if they all found out at the immunity challenge? When Matthew hurts himself Kane is talking to the camera about 2 hurt people in 2 days. Or was he just talking about him getting hurt? Because it sure sounded like Kane knew Bruce was gone.

Does Carolyn know her job is to help others get and stay off drugs, not sample them all herself?

It is worth mentioning that a lot of drug counselors started as recovering adicts.
