The Castlevania show is highly rated on Netflix, isn't it?

it had to be done intentionally by the writers, and it's kind of funny, but someone went back to the first episode and pointed out the ways that Joel and Sarah avoided flour in the premiere.
They were out of pancake mix for breakfast (Joel mentioned that as one of the products than contained the fungus), Sarah turned down cookies from the neighbors because they were raisin, and Joel forgot to bring home a cake.

Though, that now makes me think I’m wrong.

You don’t need the entire population infected by flour (most will be infected by bites or humanity’s worse parts), but that still seems awful quick to take everything down in 3 days.

Holy shit. I never in a million years thought Nick Offerman would make me cry like a little girl, but here we are. That was fantastic. I'm so glad they're not going the Walking Dead route (IE, we wanna be the grossest and most depressing show on TV) and let both characters have their life together AND didn't show their corpses at the end (like I feel WD would have). I swore I wouldn't watch another post-apocalyptic show because they're generally so depressing but dammit if I'm not sucked into this one. Helps that the games were fantastic too.

Definitely one of the best episodes of sci-fi television ever. Brought to mind the "Inner Light" episode of Star Trek: Next Generation

Offerman's giggle when he tasted the strawberry (likely for the first time in nearly 20 years) was awesome. My wife pointed out that this may be his own genuine laugh/giggle because it's seemingly the same as the handful of times Ron Swanson showed genuine joy in Parks & Rec.

I took a look at some of the Facebook comments, like “96% of people are straight so they shouldn’t be forcing this alphabet stuff on us.”
Ah, I was wondering where I’d seen him.

It's just mind boggling that in 2023 we have so many insecure losers out there.

Given the backlash against the second game and this episode … None of that was hidden or changed. Since some people are pretty obtuse, my recommendation is to include the option to not only toggle your shooting controls in the third game, but to be able to turn on the gaydar setting.
On a lighter note, I enjoyed the cold opens in episodes 1 and 2, but rolling the dice with a 75-minute cold open to “Joel and Ellie Get a Truck” was a pretty ballsy move.

I like the original Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider and Silent Hill movies. They aren't high art but they're fun enough.
Werewolves Within was well done as well. I'm sure there's some argument for the Sonic movies, Angry Birds and Detective Pikachu as well.
That said, TLU is the highest quality so far.

I thought we would all agree that the Resident Evil series was the best adaptation so far. I kid. I am not in agreement that this show has to be entirely about Joel and Ellie. Those that want a beat for beat recreation of the game into tv deserve to be disappointed. I like the world building that is going on and I hope we get another episode or two off the beaten path. Naysayers be damned.

Good episode, but my nitpick: Offerman's character is a hardcore prepper, presumably trained in survival, homesteading, surveillance, and weaponry... and yet he attempts to pick off the raiders out in the wide open like he's Julie Andrews singing "the hills are alive". Do it from some cover, man! You know your property and its vantage points much, much better than those randos *outside the fence* do. That got a bit of an eyeroll from me.

HBO added a graphic at the end of the episode in memory of Annie Wersching. The original voice/actor who played Tess

This was one of my favorite hours of television since the Sissy Spacek centered episode of Castle Rock.
That being said I would have liked to see the interactions with Ellie and Bill.
Great fucking episode.

I did watch E3 after my hesitation expressed in the previous threads.
It was great.
I'll keep watching (maybe E4 tonight) for now, but I really loathe the zombie genre, so we'll see how it goes. I did feel the same way about Westerns and then Deadwood on HBO came along, which was a gem (and I was certain I would hate it). So maybe this will work out the same for me.
