Is this a limited series? Or do they plan to expand on the game?

They do not plan to pull a Game of Thrones.
Probably best to leave it at that and see what happens

Officially a Drama Series, not a Limited Series. It's probably going to run three seasons. TLoU this year and Part 2 (a longer game) likely over two seasons.

Yup. The end of LoU2 was damn near perfect. End the way that did and we are good. Be hard to do the thing that happens so early on, though. I assume they would have to change some stuff.

I hope it runs about 5 seasons and sets up/integrates with a 3rd game in the series. Also, they will be expanding the universe quite a bit with this one. Adding new characters and fleshing out entire side stories along the way.

Like I mentioned in the pilot, I played the first game. I don't remember Ellie being a smart-ass like she is in this show. Maybe she was and I don't remember, game came out a decade ago. Snotty sarcastic kids irritate me

Everything is fine outside of Ellie's personality

Dug the episode - the clickers were awesome. I do not like Ellie's personality at all.

I also got some serious Fallout vibes, but that's probably due to it taking place in the East coast. But that final scene you could see the stashboxes and ammo caches, etc. Production design is tops.

Another good episode. The Clickers are definitely creepy. I figured Tess would die at some point because I knew enough about the games to know Joel and Ellie are the main characters and didn’t know about a third lead.

The clickers looked great.

The openings to both episodes so far have also been really good.

It’s been years since I played the game, but I remember not having a lot of fun playing through the museum.

You just forgot. Because she was exactly like that in the game. In fact those moments are the most pure moments for the character so far.

Indeedy, though I always found her character in the game to be very multi-layered. While there was that smart-ass nature (right down to pestering Joel with the joke book), there was a shyness mixed with worry and fear (especially in the add on download). I won't embellish so as to not spoil the show but the game character (well, characters as Joel is too) so well written and not just cookie cutter.

It’s kind of hilarious how much this show is like playing the game at times. When he gave Tess a boost to go find a way to clear the doorway…

I want to see the characters picking up randomly placed scissors over and over again as well as healing their wounds by wrapping their arms in a bandage.

Anxiously waiting Joel pushing Ellie around on a pallet floating in the water.

Though from last night's episode, I got the impression she was lying when she said she couldn't swim. Yet another departure from the game, if true. 0/10.

If so it would take away from (2nd game spoiler below)
Spoiler:
a nice moment in the second game where Joel has taught her to swim as Ellie asks in the first game.

So I hope they keep that as true.

Re: The Last of Us (S1E02) -- "Infected" -- 1/22/23

I really enjoyed last night's episode. It was a pretty simple episode with only Joel, Tess and Ellie. But, the suspense was effective and I liked seeing the Clickers. They were pretty creepy looking. The After Show feature briefly talks about how they developed the design of them.

I may have missed it, but did they show how Tess got bit?

It did kind of bug me that he made a point of the clickers being unable to see, but then expended a bunch of effort to crawl around on the floor behind objects in order to…hide from them? Can I assume that was merely for dramatic effect?

I don't know but in the game, if I am just standing out in the open, sometimes the Clickers caught me. I always hid from them when I could.

Crouching behind stuff dampens the sound, as you're less likely to be within a direct line of sight umm... earshot. I guess.
